are you guys/gals using tripods to shoot with this lens on the far end???
if not how u keep the images from blurring due to exponential camera shake and the low 6.3 aperture???

I don't have this lens, but just used a DOF calculator (http://www.dofmaster.com/dofjs.html) to find that at 500mm, at the minimum focusing distance of ~10 ft and f/6.3, the DOF is only 0.3 inches. Wow. Of course, 500mm at 10 ft... an object only 5" or so will fill the frame?

i'm really happy with my buy :D
iso50 (@5d2) is really really sharp with this lens. just have to get the shutter speed correct, to get a desired shot.

focused with the center dot only, with manual program i think.
forgot to test f6.3 at 500. closing up the aperture is just a bad habit :p
PS: at the end, i found out that it was much easier to shoot without the tripod, lol...

Amazing lens guys. I'm starting to become a fan of the Bigma. I have a copy with me now that I used during a camping trip. Hope to be able to contribute to this thread soon.

Well, I will answer my own question then. :)
Taken yesterday with the 7D and Bigma. EXIF is intact.

Those bird images are stunning, and the 7D does bring it to life indeed.
Got a few taken here, most of them at ISO 3200

These are one of my favourite birds. Hard to catch because they do not sit still and they have that lovely cute masked face :)

At a certain angle, they look just like him with a little cigar in his mouth. ;)

I was testing it this past weekend against the 100-400. I just purchased a 50-500 off a member here so I was really surprised with how great the shots came out
here's one from the San Diego wild animal park this weekend (I had a heavy bag with this, the 100-400 and my 300 f4 L _ which I just sold)

Kind of... per Sigma's cross reference chart: http://www.sigma-photo.co.jp/english/acc/condaitr.htm both of their 1.4x & 2x teleconverters are compatible, but appear to only work in Manual Focus (or limited AF with the 1.4x).

I just got this lens and was hoping for decent results. I read it needs alot of light to get great results and that's really true. I took this shot in the late afternoon and the results are not spectacular but my expectations weren't all that much either.
