Being fairly new to digital photography, this is one of the first Macro shots I managed to take with the Canon S2 1S. I realise it's not up to the standard that some of the posts are on this forum, but critique and comments would be most welcome

You nailed the blurring of the background but the position the bee is in does not do anything for me. A little more sharper focus on the subject and your in there. I like the colors. I would love to see more....

You've started out well. Nice focus and depth of field. But don't put your own work down... very few people start off with the perfect results. Just try to improve with every shot you take.

Thanks to you both for the comments. don't know if it is ok to post a web address, but you can see more examples of my work at www.meltonrossnewbarnetby.co.uk Have had the S2 1S for around six months. 90% of the photos on here are taken with the S2

Great website. I'll be looking at that one for a while. You have an excellent eye for photography.

I think that you have a expellant picture. I like the color saturation, the depth, and sharpness in this picture. I also took a very similar shot and thought you might enjoy seeing my picture for a comparison.
Thanks for sharing I realy enjoy seeing you shot.

Couple quick tweaks (bit of saturation and sharpness). Lots of jpeg artifacts here, but it gives you an idea of how you might polish up the original:

I wouldnt be too hard on yourself, although you are possibly the wrong side of the bee, your shot shows good timing. I still havent managed to get one non blurry bee shot!
