I just bought the 70-200 IS 2.8L and am thinking about getting the EF 2x converter. I have the 35-350L, but am so happy with the image stabilization on the 70-200 that I am sure that I can get better hand held pics of jumping fish (I have been trying to get a good shot of a jumping marlin for several years now) with the IS lens. By the way, anyone reading this ever get a good shot of a jumping offshore gamefish - very tricky business from a pitching boat when you are not really sure where and when the fish is going to come up.

This is a 70-200 "is" with a 2x converter:

Works fine...I've even put the 2x and 1,4x on the lens 900+mm and the lens autofocused just fine...even considering the money it is an awesome lens!

Paul, is that the Canon 1.4x and 2x on the same lens?
Why I ask is that I've been playing with that combination on various lenses and they don't fit straight off; the Canon converters have protruding front elements and fit only L telephotos and longer (70-200 upwards) zooms and won't fit onto each other.
