At least I think its a RCK. If only it were a male with that bright crown.

Your title says it perfectly! Great pics, but i think they could use a little bit of contrast.

What a funny looking bird. Very nice captures by the way.

These birds are barely larger than a Ruby-Throated Hummer and bounce around in perpetual motion so you were quick yourself to get a shot. My understanding is that the ruby crown in the males will only show itself when the bird gets excited. A little more contrast IMHO would enhance already great shots. Nicely done.

That is a real feat....getting such good photos of a tiny hyperactive bird. A clever simile in the title to boot !:D

I bet if aeronautical engineers tested his drag coefficient they would say he couldnt fly.
oddest looking shape I have seen on a bird.

It flys only when hit by a Racquet!

I have never even heard of such! Great capture. I would mistake it definitely for a tennis ball, if it were yellow or green, but it's a cute bird!

Ha! I've never seen them THAT puffed out before. It really does look like an old tennis ball! I like that little bird a lot and they are constantly moving, so good work catching it!

Thanks very much for all the nice comments, I was really surprised when i looked at the pics that one came out so round. I took so many bad shots of this gal but she was OK with me there so I waited and waited until she perched. Got 3 good pics and she flew off.
