Legends of Paintball Games
This was a different type of event than I usually cover, this was a paintball game where the participants had to use old single shot guns, No modern semi automatic guns were allowed. The games were played in the woods for the most part, to recreate how the sport started in 1985.

It hard it is to capture a paintball in mid flight especially from a pump gun which fires balls one at a time. Most modern Paintball guns fire about 20 balls a second so it is easy to capture them in mid flight. The low lighting conditions caused by the overcast day made this even more difficult.

very nice photos as usual. Reminds of when I used to play.. I started out with a Tippman pump, then a Pro-Lite, VM-68 and ended with a Evolution Autococker. I haven't really played in years though. These make me want to though.

I plan on hitting up the local field again, haven't played in two years sold my equipment, except my Dye Invision and my jersey because it has my name one it. I have a question, are you taking the pics on the oppoisite side of the net or are you in there in a mask and all? I'd like to go and take pictures but yeah the guys there aren't all pro's so I don't want my camera to be hit by a stray shoot.

Nice shots, especially the last.

Yea I really like the last one too...It almost looks staged but it wasn’t. He stood there for a few seconds let out a yelp and charged down the hill…I think he was looking for Indians or Buffalo to shoot or something J

He sort of reminded me of Wild Bill Hickock or Buffalo Bill but with green hair. He was very amusing to watch and I don’t think he was acting!

This guy was a real wild man, complete with two rifles in over the shoulder holsters , a pistol and a big knife in his belt . Needless to say I followed him around for quite sometime...I am still not quite sure what the knife was for...

Great shots. I'm intrigued on how seriously it is taken as a sport where you are. Around my locale, it's still in the novelty passtime phase.

Wow,. brings back memories....

Great shots :)
That one guy is set up like "Ash" from Evil Dead :)

Remember "Nelspot" that made the first "Cattle MArker"
Yep.. I had one of those..
The last one I used (still have) is a Tipmann pro lite...
We used to play in the woods near a friends Farm.. few rules and not enough protection. Never had to suffer the pain of getting onto a fild with people sporting 20 balls a second.. OUCH!

and as for the knife, i'd say 99.99% of the fileds do not allow lethal weapons.

in any case, these are great pictures

After playing on fields where if agreed upon; some players go full auto; (I use a spyder TL plus with NO mods) I think it would be fun to go back to the 'roots' of the game. You would have to get much closer and work for each shot; no Pray and Spray there!

I play a ton of scenario games, as I dont like the direction the speed game has taken, and I always carry my modified pistol, I can shove a 10 shot tube in the load tube and make reloading much faster. It is a great backup weapon and I have surprised more than one player with it. I love the old markers...makes me get all nostalgic and such. And yes I still have my Angel speed, that was built by my local paintball shop manager when their team was at New Orleans about 3-4 years ago. They took two speeds, one red, and one black and mixed parts. Always gets mistaken for a Dark Angel, but it isnt. Hell I never even use it anymore. My Tippy gets a lot more use. I will have to post some pics...

Hmmmm, don't you love moderator in jokes.

I guess they forgot that use regular members can't see the deleted posts :)
(which is a good thing ;) )

These are some cool pics, we still play here in NZ what you would call "Old School" paint ball. Although most fields have now moved onto useing all Semi Autos, only a few years ago you usualy just got a simple pump action, unless you paid extra and got a semi, and then they would only allow 2 or 3 per team, and they had to be even numbers.

It really teachs you to make your shots count, and to conserve ammo, which can be fun given the poor accuracy of the older guns.
