I have a new 10D (my only digital camera) and several new CF cards, which I formatted in the camera. I have the camera set to Continuous image numbering.

I just shot a wedding, and can't understand my resulting image numbers.

The first card I shot created Folders 100, 101, and 102, and images 0001-0100, 0101-0200, and 0201-0240 within them.

My second card created Folders 104, 105, and 106, and put in them 0401-0500, 0501-0600, and 0601-0684. Folder 103 (and images 0241-0400) seems to have been "skipped".

The third card created Folders 899 and 900, and put images 9901-9999 and 0001-0038 in them (thus duplicating image numbers used on the first card I shot). I'm not sure why the folder numbers "backed up" instead of advancing to 107 and 108, and the duplication is a problem.

It's for sure that Operator Error may have been the cause of this, but can someone help me to understand what's going on? I don't believe I changed any settings related to image numbering during the wedding.

Since I (of course) didn't catch this until I had already adjusted 100 or so images (they're LF JPEGs), I'd also like to know how to renumber my pre-proof workfile images to number them consistently. I think I saw that PS has the capability of doing this easily, so perhaps I should try that (?).

Thanks,

Install the new firmware, one of it's undocumented features is a fix for UOE. (User Operator Error). (hehehe)....

Not sure...hard to say..mine started w/ 101 has gone up from there and consistenly numbers in order no matter how many times and/or cards I've thrown in there. Sounds like you have a lot of file renaming to do!!
