Oh yes, make sure bladder empty first as the water you loose will go into Auckland water supply as these falls fill into one of the main water dams for drinking :p .

Sorry Petes "wee one" put me on to that thought

Looks like a very nice evening, wish I were out there with you lot. For your humour I rang Canon NZ today to get an idea of what a IR filter cost to replace & the woman said "you'd have to send it in but would take an hour" cool I thought <sarcasm> an hour to dismember a camera body, replace it's main purpose & reassemble.
I think probably not..... managed to get a part number for the filter so if all else fails will have a go myself.

for more giggles, the Macro "damage" competition has put up my entry.

Good night. Nice to meet our newer members, here is 1 of my "after wazza tutorials" shots.

The sunset wasnt that great tonight. Did manage to break my tripod  so will need to get a "weka bush pod", able to handle the ruggard terrain I go through.

We did get seperated at the falls, woops weka ran off and when he came back the rest has gone. They had walked right past me when I was in the small canyon and the volume I didnt hear them chattering.

Duncan found your entry in the "damaged" section. That looks like 1 unhappy sensor.

Mine are at home ;)
I didn't walk in the door till after 11, and after all the mountain goat climbing in un-ideal shoes (kidding) I was tiiiiiiired. All I managed do was take em off my camera - bawk at them, then go to sleep ;)

Who has the pic of the 20D's at the falls all lined up?

Well that was a waste of time. Get there (Karekare) overcast. Got my tripod fixed but left the attachment to connect camera at home. Sun behing clouds and rain started, kids crying I want to go home and mum saying we are going now.

joeseph

left the attachment to connect camera at home.

Almost as good as someone I know left his tripod in the car, on the other side of Auckland on a GKPE ending at Piha. Some days they just turn to custard..
Still, points for effort weka!

mmm...I see two cameras without the POTN strap....

Now I'm need to upgrade my tripod. What are these models - I can't makeout the model number on the nearest Velbron(?) - and are they worth the spend?

A very nice shot Weka. It has a pleasing softness to it, but the detail of the grasses is balances that nicely.

that would be us newbees (kirst and I)

the tripod nearest the camera is Wazzas so he would be the best to answer that question

Looking forward to meeting you - I haven't GKPE'd yet (!!!) but must get that sorted.
Cheers- I'll ask Wazza about the tripod.

mmm...I see two cameras without the POTN strap....I should really get one, once I feel worthy enough

Now I'm need to upgrade my tripod. What are these models - I can't makeout the model number on the nearest Velbron(?) - and are they worth the spend? Not sure on the other 3 tripods, but mine is a SLIK U 9000, bubble level (for us wonky folks)

MAX. OPERTING HEIGHT ~ 1500mm (59.0")
FOLDED LENGTH ~ 590mm (23.0") MAX.
CENTER COLUMN EXT. ~ 300mm(12.0")

It cost around $150 in 2004.

I knew that closest camera was Wazza beacuse it doesn't have a hood.

I wouldn't use a POTN strap, it's not a professional image. I use a Canon one and a Protech (or something like that) one, same as POTN but without the logo.

Whats not proffesional about it?

IainB
28th of January 2006 (Sat), 02:31
I happen to think 'forum' is quite an intellectual word. 'Forums' only makes it even better. Anyone who is especially intent on reading the strap is likely to be another photographer rather than a client. A bit like the Masonic handshake...

Ian I didnt take that photo. But we do need to see if we can get into the POTN book of records for the group with the most 20D,s
