I am starting to shoot models and actors and having fun doing it... Is this okay for the first time out?

Shot in open shade with black back drop with reflector in models lap. Shot at 70mm about 8 feet away with ISO 100, aperture F4 and shutterspeed 1/125.
just a quick run through with CS2 raw. Using 70-200 2.8 L ..

Blessings

These are perfect! These shots remind me of the ones that Kevyn Major Howard puts out on his www.headshot-photography.com (http://www.headshot-photography.com/index.htm) website. I'm just curious if you are a fan or just doing your own thing?

These are great photos, and if you hadn't asked, I wouldn't have anything critical to say about them. Since you did, though....Are the eyes in focus> Especially in the firstshot, his right eye (our left) They don't quite look like they are to me, but it may be my monitor.

Thanks forthe reply guys. junapal, you are right the left eye on the first photo is slightly out of focus, that was because the head was tilted in such an angle that the eye left the lenses depth of field. it's a little soft for sure, I noticed that as well. I think there was only about 4 inches of depth of field given my distance and aperture so the head being angled caused that eye to be where the ear would normally be thus causing a soft eye. OOPS>> LOL

Dwterry, I have never heard of Kevin major before but I will check him out. I really havent done any research regarding peoples techniques I just follow what I learn from my photography school and a little common sense. the problem that I'm having is figuring out what color ****s to apply to the head shots. In Dallas where I live there are very few good headshot photographers and tons of models and actors that need them.

These are great.

In the first shot I see what appears to be a reflection of the reflector in his left eye (our right). It's a little distracting for me.

Nice. Just a nit with the first one -- his forehead seems a bit too hot for me - a tad bit too much reflectance there.

My only nit would be that the first guys different sized eyes are accentuated by his head position. You might try shooting him with the other side of his face forward just to see how that looks.

These are great.

As a general rule of thumb I tell people NEVER to wear white. It's too easy to lose detail.
