We should have a midwestern meet-up this summer in St. Louis. We could go to the Missouri Botanical Gardens, the Butterfly House, the St. Louis Zoo, and maybe even to a ball game. That would be fun if enough people participated.

I'm in KC, live in Blue Springs and am at work in downtown KC right now. I wouldn't consider myself a Midwesterner though, since I've only lived here 2 years after spending the previous 24 in Massachusetts. But my wife is from Lincoln, NE so I'm a Midwesterner by association I suppose.

Well, I'll be, there are midwesterners here. I would definately love to do a get together this summer. I love St. Louis so much, I go there between 10-12 times a year for Blues games, Cards games and the Zoo. Nice to hear from all of you out there. I work downtown as well, and live just north of the river off 169 hwy and NW 68th St.

Growing up I went to the St. Louis Zoo all the time! We even went there (coincidentally) the day they first stacked those big block letters up at the entrance.

Now that I live up north we’re members and regulars of Brookfield Zoo.

What I miss most about the St. Louis Zoo is the miniature train that ran around it. Brookfield has trams, but they’re not the same as the train with the conductors in their old train uniforms.

There are more and more of us..... the Missouri Botanical Garden currently has many glass pieces installed throughout the garden craeted by Dale Chihuly. It costs a bit extra to see his works, but cameras are welcome both day and night, tripods are a no-no, not sure about monopods. Several friends have gone and the shots are magnificent.

That's funny. We used to live at Wood and Mozart, next to the police station across from the baseball diamonds tennis courts. Now we live in a quite area just off Winston south of Palatine rd.

The old place seemed perfect when we moved in.:) Right next to schools, parks, pool etc. However we had the high intensity baseball lights shinning in windows until 11pm. Dust from the baseball fields covered everything, we were down wind. Then on the 4th we had carnies living next to us, drunks pissing on the house, strangers parking in our driveway, strangers walking in to use the bathroom. As my daughters got older and under less of my control and direct supervision we just had to move:mad: . We did have some great parties on the 4th though.:lol: One year I ran the beer tent for the Jaycees.

Fort Leonard Wood calling. Or was it Lost in the Woods? Anyway, if you want to shoot nature nothing beats a military post. There are some REMOTE spots here and the animals are not as shy as they´ve gotten used to gun fire and traffic. Makes for a lot of deer on the roadds though...

No, it´s Chaplain Rabe now. We also had Father Pawlikowski, who is a really cool dude, but he´s off to USMA.

We'll reopen on Saturday 1/5/08. I've noticed that there is a young hawk living either by the hospital or across from the plaza here.

Hello all,

I'm currently 60 miles west of Chicago, in DeKalb, IL.

I'm spending summer at my parents' house in Farmer City, between Bloomington-Normal and Champaign-Urbana. In August, I move to Springfield to get my Master's at UIS.

Anyone in Springfield care to meet up and shoot around the capitol? I don't know the city at all, so it will take me a couple of weeks to get my bearings and make some friends, and a knowledgeable friend would really be appreciated.
