Hi All
Have any users of this lens here found this issue described in this dpreview posting http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1029&message=16712186
Mine is a great lens when used in landscape orientation but as reported in that thread I have found mine does have the reported 'problem'.
I wonder if it is generic to the design or the newest manufactured ones are 'cured'.
I know that many here (I think) are also posters to dpreview but wondered if anyone here has had this 'fixed' or if Canon has offered amy advice of repairs/replacement?
TIA :)

Can someone explain this to me it clearly must be an IS thing. As the lens optics don't care what angle they are at, they are round a picture is a picture.
Turn off IS if you can, picture should look fine. I don't have this issue, but my lens doesn't support mode 2 either.

This is going around various forums, and the issue is not "IS" related. I posted this issue a while back: http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=127848&highlight=fstopjojo
My copy returns to me TOMORROW (so they've told me), and I will post back on whether it is fixed or not. Apparently it's an issue with the inner barrel being loose. More to come.

Mine is a bad copy [serial number] also and the barrel is very loose, have to keep a rubber band around the zoom mechanism to keep it from flopping to 300mm when the lock isn’t on.
