Shot tonight with the 580EX and LSII. Please let me know if you like the color, B&W or neither and why.

Thanks

Not sure about the extra softening and the cut off chin bothers me, but otherwises nice conversion. If this is a crop then come back abit and pull the chin in and maybe more of the head, go portrait if you want to keep it tight - just my two cents.

What was your workflow for the actual conversion?

I'm a big fan of B&W, but I much prefer the color shot here. It's warm and engaging in color. Kind of leaves me flat in B&W, and I really don't like leaving the eye iris color at all. Maybe that's what bothers me. Try a true monochrome and let's see what that looks like.

the color shot is great, though.

Not sure how you did your conversion, but I use a channel mixer adjustment layer and really like the results. I also agree with the previous post, I am not so sure about how soft you made it in the conversion, since you had image editing ok, I took a quick minute in PSCS2 and here is what I came up with.

Thanks guys. I was testing a B&W coversion and a blur filter for the the guy who wrote them in a different forum I frequent.

the crop is a bit tight, the expression a bit forced, the color balance a bit off and in the BW you have left the red channel too high up

other than that---
