HELP! I cant seem to figure this one out. I cant seem to get the focus right. Canon20D, 2.5 sec exp, f5.6, ISO 1600, Tamron 70-300mm Lens, On tripod, Could it be a cheap lens, other images are ok, but aren't tack sharp. Or I noticed that even though auto-focus is on there seems to me a little difference between the viewfinder and the CMOS Chip. Could some please help.

What is this that you are trying to focus on? The 20D auto-focus system needs some variation in color/light/texture to create contrast on the object that the active focus point is on. This looks like a very dark shot of what may be small lights or stars, or some other very hard to focus objects.
What kind of results do you get in good light on contrasty subjects?

Greetings, It looks like the Pleiades. I have found that my auto focus doesn't work on very dark scenes. Try manual focus

to me it just seems that the focus is right there. Like it should be. Images look alittle hazy.
It looks like the Pleiades. I have found that my auto focus doesn't work on very dark scenes. Try manual focus Thats exactly what it is. It seems like when I manually focus thru the viewfinder the image is still a little oof. I have the viewfinder focused in when I use auto focus. Could that be because of the lens or camera not calibrated right?
