another 500 super vs 430ex question

after looking through previous posts and user reviews online elsewhere I have one question left between the 2 flashes regarding multiflash setups. With the 430ex I understand compatibility w/ another canon flash will be a no brainer, but what is this I read about limitations of the 500 super in regards to sync w/ another canon flash? Some folks says they can do it, but the metering will be off, some others commented it won't be a problem if there are no one else shooting in the same room. If I'm sure about staying with one flash, the 500 super would be an easy decision, but I don't want to limit myself in the future. Could someone clear this up for me? thanks!

I've never used the Sigma, but i've read both good and bad things about it's wireless ETTL compatability. If you know you want to do multi flash setups personally i'd go with the Canon, just for piece of mind.

I have a sigma 500 super and a canon 420. They work in wireless ETTL (sigma as master, canon as slave) mostly. the key word is mostly.

a fair fraction of the time, the sigma triggers the canon to fire at full flash output and the shot is ruined. I turn both flashes off, on again, retake and the shot is fine. usually. But it is annoying. leo (pace-ace) has more insight into this problem.

sigma says (email to me from customer service) that the 500super works in multi-flash setups with other 500supers, can't be guaranteed with canon flashes in the mix.
