just got my 50mm f/1.4 today woo hoo! so i was playing around with it using my 420ex flash in manual mode on my 10D
i have a maroon vaccume cleaner in the corner near my desk. white walls.
1st i propped up a gray-card on the v.c. and using my center af point, focused and shot.
2nd i moved the center af point just above the graycard to the corner of the two white walls and shot.
3rd i moved the center af point on the black handle of the v.c. and shot.
all three very different exposures due to flash output. (i set a manual 1/125th, f/5.6)
my point is? i guess it pays to experiment when you're learning. and, ettl is pretty cool!
even though i know this, it's neat to see it in action. and, even though the in-camera meeter is flashing for under-exposure everything still came out OK.
i can't wait to try some fill flash sunset shots if we ever see the sun again in WI
