I want to know which lighting source is good for portrait shot? I can't afford expensive lights, I wonder if I could get any normal light from home depot or any diy stuff you guys are doing that create good results?
Thanks.

some use flood lights and cheap clip on reflectors or those halogen work lamps that come with stands attached. just be careful becasue those things get hot!

Other people have used halogen lights from Home Depot. You can use such things, but they are very harsh light sources. Bounce them off a wall/ceiling, off some white foam board, or direct them through thin mesh -- anything to soften the light.

Not to mention that the heat generated by these type lights is very intense and possibly dangerous. If you decide to use halogen, be careful.
