I'm not quite sure what to use a keyword for this in order to search the forums, so if there's a known thread and someone can point me in the right direction, I'd be ever so grateful....

My Rebel XT does this neat little trick lately where it changes from one shot to timed and to multiple shots all by itself. Isn't it smart? I'm not so keen on this because I keep missing shots. Is this a known issue? Am I going to have to send my precocious little baby back to Canon for a spanking?

mine has never done that, but i often bump the button that switches them without knowing it. ive gotten in the habit of checking to make sure before i start shooting that its on one shot. not sayin thats whats causing yours, but thats what caused my problems.

I thought at first that I was bumping the button as well, but I've been really careful not to do that and I'm fairly certain it's doing it all by itself now. :(

Sounds like it needs to go back. Someone else's just came back from a visit on account of it wanted to just shoot and shoot and shoot as fast as it could reset the shutter. I forget the thread - it was one of the Kiwis.

Hi,

Have you tried removing both batteries? Sometimes this can resolve strange issues. Have you updated the firmware lately?

Just some thoughts.

Hmmmmm..... Well, I updated the firmware (boy, was that scary for me. Never did it before and I was afraid I'd break something!) Now my scroll issue is fixed and my drive mode issue hasn't resurfaced....but it stopped shooting pictures for awhile and wouldn't turn off! I took out the battery and put it back in and it seems to be working fine now. Weird stuff!
