For RAW shooters or prospective RAW shooters:

Quick Tour of RAW Processing
as downloadable PDF version:
http://www.zaffora.com/W9DMK/QuickTourOfRAWProcessing.pdf

In this article I finally got serious about measuring the amount of recoverable highlights in overexposed RAW images from a G5.

If you are just getting motivated to shoot RAW, this article will be of interest.

If you want to understand clipping and the clipping displays in Adobe Camera RAW versions 2.4 and 3.3, this article is for you.

If you are a serious RAW shooter with experience in ACR and want to better understand what is going on inside the RAW format and RAW processing, you may learn something you didn't know from this article.

Thanks,

cyclone

Bob-
I tried to download the RAW article you posted late last year and got an error message. Now I know why...you put out a new version. Thanks!

Dear cyclone,

Well, I hope you find what you need in the newer article.

However, the earlier article is still there at the addresses below. That earlier article has not been updated in some time and only relates to the earlier version of Adobe Camera RAW. I really need to update or even re-write the earlier article in light of what I have discovered just in the last week. In other words, while the older article has value, it may be very much out-of-date in certain areas.
