Please bear with me. Never done this before. Hey, you need to begin somewhere!
Ok..I have a bunch of photos that I adjusted slightly in PhotoShop.
I want to have them developed to 8 x 10's, 4 x 6's etc.
How do I save them so the photolab can deal with them?
And what settings should I use when saving them?
Save them as JPG?
Thanks again.

First crop the images to the aspect ratios that you want -- 8x10s, 4x6s. etc. Then convert them to sRGB (Image > Mode > Convert to Profile...) and save as jpg or tiff. Most labs print from either file format and personally I can't see the difference between prints made from high resolution jpg files and ones made from tiff files. If you have a lot of images that you want to make prints from you'll find jpg files much faster to upload than the larger tiff files.

I would stick with JPG - I think all labs can print JPG but not all can/will print TIFF. And the file size difference is huge, while saving as Quality 12 means that the quailty will be too slight to notice.

How do you do this? Just simply use the crop tool or is there a way to make an exact edit?
I use PhotoShop 7.

I use the crop tool. At the top you enter the width, height and resolution.

Yup, like Char said and a resolution of 240 to 300 will work fine.

I don't use the crop tool since you have to enter the resolution and size. If you're not sure what you're doing you can quickly get rid of or create data.
I use the rectangular selection tool and change the option to aspect ratio then draw out the selection. The I use the Image menu to do a crop.
That way it'll have the highest resolution possible for the size you need when the lab outputs to the correct size. If you try to match DPI, you can throw away data (or have PS create it). I find ignoring DPI and just sending the image with the right dimentions works well... for the local mass printing places (grocery stores/Walmart/the like).
If you're using a professional printing service (more cash) then you would be best to ask them what colour space to use, what resolution their printers are and what would be the best way to output your images. They'll be able to tell you how to get the best image from their printers.
If you ask the same questions at Walmart... you'll get a pretty dumb blank stare... they just don't know. Just using the selection tool to crop is the easiest for everybody.

I don't have to enter any resoution or size in my crop tool. I do put in a size only as I use it when I want a certain ratio. I use CS2.

But I think if you leave the resolution out on the crop tool, it'll resize to the ratio that you've specified using the current resolution.
If you say you want a crop the ratio of 3px by 2px without resolution, you'll end up with a 3px by 2px image no matter how big you drew the box.

It should cover PS 7, even though it was done with CS.

Maybe you're thinking of the image>resize option rather than the cropping tool? I have put in 4 x 6 and it crops to a 2:3 ratio, not any specific pixel size.
eta: ok I just looked and I have never entered any resolution when using the crop tool, and never had a problem with pictures up to 8x10 (haven't printed any bigger than that). I guess if you don't enter a number, it just doesn't change the current resolution. I'll have to remember that next time I'm cropping pictures.
