I saw some advice while skulking around the forum when I first discovered it a week ago, but I can't find it anymore. It had to do with file numbering after converting from RAW. It said something about saving the first part of the original file number to easily find the RAW file again in archives, and changing the suffix as you generate newly processed versions of the file. If someone recalls this, could you point me in the right direction? I seemed like good advice, but I can't remember it exactly.
By the way, I'm moving from film (love my Velvia) to digital with a new 10D. I appreciate all the useful advice people leave on the site. The learning curve is steep.
