Hi,

I saw a number of sites that show their portfolio with a slide show that runs with flash. Is there a software that allows to do this and then would allow me to incorporate the flash presentation into a web page?

I tried Jalbum but the only flash slide how they have has an ugly banana rotating onscreen as the slide show downloads in the background. The other slide shows that Jalbum offers are based on jpeg not on flash.

thanks

stephen

Uh, how about Flash? And since Adobe bought out Macromedia a while ago, I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Flash file output at an option for some of their other apps coming along. I know there are apps out there that can convert images (especially PowerPoint -- ugh) to Flash, so a search of the Web for something like "flash conversion" would probably give you some leads.

I find SimpleViewer being very easy to use and has an interface that's simple and stripped down - you can play with it a tad, to personalize it too. Can run on servers that support PHP, ASP, Cold Fusion and Perl.

There was a nice application, I think it was called 'swish', which was pretty much Flash for dummies. You could do all kinds of things without having to know any flash.
I haveen't used it for a while, it's really not that hard to make a slideshow in flash itself with a little bit of ActionScript.

Swishpix is very nice for quick little shows.

Flash slide shows look cool, but i've had too many of my customers complain that they can't see them at work. Given my website is meant to get me business I want as wide a range of people as possible to be able to see it, so I stayed with html, done with JAlbum.

i'm a huge fan of simpleviewer... output is so easy with the plug-ins for iphoto and picasa2 but i have to agree people at work not being able to view flash can sometimes be a pain.

You can also plugin Simpleviewer into Jalbum as a template to make it really easy to use,

There's a program called SVDesigner, or something like that, which can generate SimpleViewer albums. Like I said I prefer the html albums that JAlbum makes.

I've been a web designer/developer for quite a long time and I think the easiest route is just to go with Flickr.com. That's what I did on my site. There really is no better application for sharing photos, etc. There's also plenty of plugins available to to show Flickr photos directly on your site/blog/etc.

If you're in a hurry and just need to create a quick online gallery (that also runs from CD), try: http://my.bigfolio.com

Try Wondershare Flash SlideShow Builder (http://www.qweas.com/download/video_dvd/movie_makers/wondershare_flash_slideshow_builder.htm). It outputs slideshows as the Macromedia Flash file format (SWF) which you can embed the slideshow on your own site. You can easily publish your slideshows on the internet, email them to friends or generate the EXE file for easily distribution. But it is not free.

I personally would recommend Showit LINK (http://www.showitfast.com)

The cool thing is that it is easy to use and quick to load. It preloads by sections so that viewers won't have to wait for a long time.

SimpleViewer is one of the most professional looking products on the market. You can let it do all the work or if you know a little HTML you go tweak the page. And best of all it FREE!
