Without intending to insult anyone from the greater Detroit area, this does look like the Detroit I saw when I visited some years back. I am quite sure that there some beautiful suburbs somewhere not far away, but this is how I remembered it.
Nicely captured, interesting subjects and lighting. Some seem a little flat though, have you applied any levels to these?

Nice, brave too, is that building west of I-75 and just north of I-94 that goes to metro? I just took my son back to the airport, in the first part of Januaray, and past a big factory with graffiti on it like that. I thought myself, it would make some good pictures. Thanks for sharing, on top of the factory I seen, was like a little second floor building, it almost looks like that is where you are standing.

Yes Detroit is on its way back...but its very slow and coming. The title was kind of in light of all the improvments that are being done to make it look like its not a 95.62% rundown city. Things such as improvments just b/c the superbowl is coming here in a month and not b/c the city needs the improvments anyway. Kind a bunch of bandaids insted of fixing things the way they should be fixed.
Also yes all the levels are changed around...Im thinking that a few do however need a big more contrast...Thats for your replies!

Hi Justin,
glad you like it........I did a curves adjustment increasing contrast, then duotoned with a sepia colour, that's it. I also did another edit on the colour shot, where I super-saturated it and boosted the curves again. It looked really good but I couldn't save it in a decent size under a 100k for some reason.

It really is a absolutely beautiful city scape with great architecture and potential its just sad that more isn’t being done to restore and preserve some of the great structures and beauty that the city use to be known for...This coming from and architecture student...
bikerider- Thanks for the info, I seems that I really need to work on my curve skills...

Where were you? Eastern Market? Or over west of Cass Ave.?
I lived in Detroit (and still live very close), and while I do agree with you that the city needs some work, you could definitely find these same situations in Columbus, Toronto, New York City, Seattle or any other big city.
These nooks and cranies are what makes a big city a big city. I'm not trying to demean your message, just saying that maybe a better title would have been "This is what a real city looks like." I thought for a second you were going to display photos with some degree of normalcy, because that's all you'll find downtown these days.
That aside, I like the first one the best. Nice yet interesting feel to it.
