Hey all, first image post to POTN...due to all the rain and flooding we've had here in Northern California, it's been a good winter to stay inside and practice product shooting! It's been a bit challenging because I've been trying to do the most with only one 580EX Speedlite, window light, and a LOT of white foamcore.

Here's a couple of recent samples; feel free to share what you think. Shot with a Digital Rebel and a 24-70mm f/2.8L on a Slik tripod.

01. These items were shot separately in a 3-sided white box made of foam core, with the single 580EX and LumiQuest MiniSoftbox as the key, with just a tad of natural ambient light for fill. The 580EX was on a lightstand camera left using an off-camera cord. Background is digital, elements masked and composited in Photoshop (along with some bottle lighting enhancements). Yeah, I know it's the wrong kind of bottle - it's a jug-style one - but one must work with what's on hand. ;)

02. This one was far simpler: Home sick, had my phone on top of my Dell XPS laptop...just took the 580EX, reversed the head and fired the flash to the white ceiling. Only some window light added a bit of ambient fill.

Now the sun's back out, it's back to architecture and oak trees for a while! ;-)
