Hmmm... I'm noticing that my mail notification isn't coming in as it regularly does... and I'm ending up having to catch up 2-3 pages...
Is anyone else noticing the lag...?
It will be the unbundling, if they don't tie the cables back together quickly enough the emails sometimes fall out the end of the cables...

And with these new Gigabit fibre cables, the e-mails fall out at a greater rate of knots.

Exactly.....if they tied knots in the fibre cables before they unbundled them, none of the emails could fall out.

Pete/Duncan/Scott -- what is unbundling? Will it happen while we are still alive? At the rate things are going, TeresaG, with her $3M+ salary, will never get her head out of the sand/clouds. . . that is until the shareholders boot her out and it will be too late;)

I would be more worried about bit torrents rather than emails falling out, the rate of data streaming out from a torrent could be quite dangerous, not to mention the shady nature of some of the content, wouldn't want that all over my floor!

$13 per person for an "all you can eat" transport pass, includes buses too.
I think this is a nice follow-up form the hike up Rangitoto, we get to sit down a lot to go places!
I will have a better shot at organizing this one, but will probably need some help, will work out points of interest before the event and a rough itinerary.
This one is scheduled at the moment for August 5th.

My son had his martial arts competition on the weekend so got to try out the EF-S 17-55mm F/2.8. Far superior to the Ef-s 17-85 but so it should be for the price. Set it on iso 800 but should have also tried it on 1600 on some of the real action shots, will do this next time.

Hmm, I thought that it was probably just me... Considering Auckland Camera is a great place to get stuff from the owner or whomever should make sure that customers are happy with the service... then again, when people have been at a place for forever they tend to be a little grumpy...

Ok I want to thank everyone for all the help they have given, the testing of lens, advice and company.
So enought clowning around Im going to start to focus on 1 subject and Im going to do it well.
Ive had a wick full of people and trying to photograph them. I personally dont think I have the nature to work with people. I prefer to shoot alone with no one around.
So I will become a landscape photographer. Will sell up all my studio lights, softboxes, umbrellas and stands and get a 20D for my bigma.
I take my hat off to Tim & Wazza for what they do with weddings, but at least I gave it a good go and learnt a lot maybe it was my choice in model, or lack of choice but im sick of fighting, sick of been unable to post my work and sick of dealing with peoples insecurities.

Yes mainly for portraits, gives excellent DOF control, but also lower light, 2.8 give you just a bit more hand holdablity with out having to go overboard on the ISO, I often shoot at 200mm in situations where a monopod is not practical and I am often at ISO1600 anyway.

If you understand chassis dynamics and know how they set the cars up then it loses a lot of its appeal.

Once I have a few examples get the web site done and business cards. If it goes well get studio built. They still havnt given me my quote so I will ring next week

Been having a play with the 10D today.
Overall impressions are...
Heavy :)
The buttons make sense after coming from a 300D (Trying one before I got the 300D was a nightmare).
CFn 4-1 and 4-3 are great.
Man there was a lot of dust on the sensor.
Glad I got it.

I like my 10D. Still want a 1d2n but don't let my missus know. It 'may' just turn up. The 10D still produces excellent results. Like someone said, just because a new camera model comes out doesn't mean your camera stops taking good pics.
These pics were taken with a sigma 50-500 attached and hand held.

I've seen that QTVR before, and its pretty good. Its got a couple blending errors in it tho.
Clive you are missing out on quite a bit on the internet then - QTVR is the best 360° panoramic display software out, period.

I'm obviously not a "proper" photographer yet.
Just before the fantail shots I was walking through a Japanese garden here and a shag was making it's way between/over/under some reeds in the muddy water.
I didn't get the camera out as the shag was black and the water was pretty brown.
The little bugger went and caught a huge goldfish/carp and was wrestling with it.
I'm standing there going "Wow, that's not something you see every day. Cool".
.

Brain wakes up.
Camera!
Taking a camera out of the backpack (Lowepro Slingshot 200) takes about 0.25s longer than a goldfish needs to get away...

Good morning Aucklanders (and everyone else), just a FYI, this morning is the coldest morning I have recorded in June since I was keeping records a little under 7 years ago
Air temp (measured at 2 meters above the ground) was 1.3degC, ground was much lower than that because there was a frost! Coldest air temp I have had thus far was 0.3degC in late July three years ago (2003).
Brrrrrrr!

No wonder there was Ice on my Window!
Apprently the Waikato had -3 over night, the driver from there came up this morning, a little late. He had to wash the ice off his window, however the water he used re-froze as soon as it had washed the over night ice away.
Quick question, what time was that recorded?
I used to start work at 3am, and it would still be 4-5 degC, then as the morning wore on it would get colder, reaching 0-1 degC around 6am, just before the start of the sunrise. It was then that things would freeze up, usualy the side mirrors, then padlocks, and I would often see a layer of ice on metal bread bins.

Quick question, what time was that recorded?
I have not automated way of recording time vs temperature, but when I got up at 7am, it was 1.6, and it dropped to the 1.3 by just before 8am when we were having breakfast. The thermometer has a hi/lo setting, which I reset after a noteworthy measurement.
