Portrait, fashion and (cough, spit) glamour photographers amongst you. Any tips on shooting a model on a beach for a thing I have on Sat? Trying to go earthy girl, casual and keeping clothes on! :p

Advice welcome from anyone who's done anything like it before is welcome. :)

Your going to need fill other wise you will have issues if they are facing the sun. Will there be any shade or will it all be in the open?

Oh watch the hands. You often dont notice them untill you look on the PC then its to late.

It's likely to be largely ll in the open. Although if we find some woodland nearby we'll do a few shots there too.

Hey, this forum is a nice distraction and a place I like to try and learn from. But for most of us, I suspect, we don't live or die by it.

I am constantly amazed at the level of talent evident in some of the photos shown. Gives me something to aspire to.

The 1D is a funny camera. It can be so hit and miss. I changed some settings to see if it improved things.

Mind you it was handheld at 600mm. I had a play with IS. I just find the noise bugs me. However it helps :)

Also read the 300,400,500,600 you can use IS with a tripod.

Klippe, how long have you been racing? Anything apart from single seaters?

Karts for 3/4 years back in the mid '90s. Then did a Formula Ford Scholarship (which I got runner up in) which gave me three rounds paid for in FOrmula First.

I then bought a car and have raced 5 seasons in the last 10 years.

Raced 4 seasons in a row prior to having last season off.

Nothing but single-seaters for me thus far.

Now I have a bebo account, for no real reason.

I try to stay on top of these things so I can get them from a friend I have never meet, in fact this guy doesn't even know we are friends. ;)

Portrait, fashion and (cough, spit) glamour photographers amongst you. Any tips on shooting a model on a beach for a thing I have on Sat? Trying to go earthy girl, casual and keeping clothes on! :p

Advice welcome from anyone who's done anything like it before is welcome. :)

I haven't done too many beach shots as Munich is not famous for it's beaches or port.
However I would think that the sun is your enemy & friend.
If you have an assistent try to organize a shade screen that can be held over the model to keep the direct sun off. Otherwise back to the sun & flash.
If you can use a BF soft box* Then use it to soften your light.
Late shots with coloured sky behind the model and softbox lighting is something I like. (I did some shots like that last night but haven't processed any yet)

Reflector & fill.

Had a great shoot last night on an old farm & in a workshop.
Started outside where I had an old metal tub. Organized warm water, bubbles & hung some washing up as props. Got the model naked &.

It started Pouring with rain. Absolutley bucketed down.
We shot anyway. Camera Flash and me got soaked. Wish I had a 1d Series weather proofed body!!
Got some good photos though. I'll post in G&N when I have time to process them.
A pain how you can't choose the weather.
Got some great rainbow pictures though.

Had a run in with the grandparents today. After confirming getting ADSL, and explaining last week how it works, Telecom technician turns up to do his bit (remove DACs box, and connect exchange), and my Nan asks what's happening. Explain connecting the lines, and a connector. - They ask which line, explain the main line - said, oh, we decided we don't want you to use that line, as it's used mostly for business (they own some houses and have tenants)...

Explained their BT bill will not change, internet is effectively invisible, is not dial up. Still not convinced, had to cancel the order, and reorder again for the other line..
Now I won't have net on Monday, nor the router. (silly ISP can't just change phone line over on billing system)

I'll be shooting without anything other than an on camera 580EX if we're talking lighting. I have a reflector too... :(

FAO TOP GEAR FANS!!!

BBC2 currently airing a TG special, Hammond on a dog sled racing Captain Slow and Jezza in a custom Hilu pickup to the North Pole. Deeply 8)

Currently driving across open tundra with gin and tonics in hand, and Clarkson has fitted the tow bar of the Hilux with a toilet seat so he can take a more 'refinded' dump than the average arctic explorer!
