It's the 1D Mk2, not the 1Ds Mk2.
So it's worth about $2500 eh?
Well, they sell the 50 1.8 for $219 compared to AC at $170, so applying the same maths it is worth $3881.28

Yep, she bought the 17-35 EX in May 2006... so who knows how old the lenses really are.
Watch out for a 70-200mm f/4 L - Tony might be selling it sometime soon. He is itching for a 2.8L ;-)

Maybe he has a buffer that he doesn't want to spend, so he is waiting for the IRD?It's his money, let him do what he likes with it.
It used to bug me how much people around here spent on toys, but as long as the family is cared for, who cares? Plenty of people spend their money on much less worthy pusuits than photography.
Camera gear is kinda like a drug though isn't it.....gotta get my next bigger better fix....

Thanks Tim -- we need a voice of reason every now and then...;)
But, as Scott mentions, the buffer is pretty good and I am not touching it. My IRD refund is actually surplus at this point so I'm itching to buy a couple of lenses that will complete my line up (10 - 200mm) for at least the next couple of years, maybe 5.
I will be selling my consumer grade lenses shortly so I will just have "5" lenses in my stable -- Nifty, 10-20/22; 24-70; 70-200, 2XTC -- and that should keep me very happy for a few years ;-)

I can't even see it on trademe.. I would have paid $1500 for it.. Don't know how, but I would have made it happen.
To join the elite CPS group, you need 2x 1D sealed bodies, and 3x L series lens.. And then you'll get special treatment. Until then, they take forever, overcharge, don't contact you regarding job applications... And the list goes on.

Same as the 5D I guess. The 1Ds is FF not a good as the 5D in some aspects but weather sealed F8 and Autofocus system is better.

I dont think I do enough ultra tele to warrent $4k on 1 lens. So I might look at a 70-200F2.8 and 1D camera. Bigma lives again.
I think that my studio work may take off soon. This will be my bread and butter. Landscape will be for pleasure unless there is a woman involved

Are you browsing www.photograhpy-on-the.net (http://www.photograhpy-on-the.net) or http://photography-on-the.net because only the later will show images uploaded to the POTN server.

Usually means the image isn't there anymore. A lot of my postings do that because the site I was using went down and you cannot edit a message after a certain amount of time.

Iain, what browser are you using? Those red crosses shouldn't be popping up unless your security settings are all the way up.
If you are getting them on and off then it probably must be with the hosting site rather than your browser.

Just get a cheap remote cord & splice a 2.5mm stereo plug&socket into the lead. Then make up cables with headphone plugs on it to your desired length... You only need 3 core flexible cable

I'm convinced it was the lettuce salad I ate on XXXX Air on the return leg on Wednesday that caused the most 'unpleasant' chapter in my travel experience. Talk about fears of H5N1:shock: . Yeah, just the low-res stuff for now.
Basically it's a "save the personal photo album if the country burns down" type scenario.
It will all go full-res onto a portable HDD and kept in another house when I actually get the equipment.
On the other hand, web space is only going to get bigger, and bandwidth cheaper.

I have a 75GB hosting plan, the problem is my puny 128kbps upload would take ages, plus my bandwidth cap would run out pretty quickly. I could do it from work... but I suspect they'd notice if I uploaded 60GB of files to a US based server over the weekend!

Just like F1, WRC, V8 Supercars, you MUST be a full time full accredited photographer, working for at least a magazine full time.
I've tried, and they just will not budge. The applications have to go through the same place. We'll have to see where they put extra grandstands.. Hopefully on the North side, so everything won't be backlit as the stands are currently only on the South side!

It's Official - A1GP Race Heads To NZ
The New Zealand round of the A1GP World Cup of Motorsport has been
confirmed, with Taupo hosting the sixth round of the Series on
January 21.
The announcement was made in Auckland on Friday by A1GP chief
operating officer David Clare in the presence of Prime Minister
Helen Clark, key Cabinet Minister Trevor Mallard and the race
managers.
Taupo will be the first meeting of 2007. The event has been
sanctioned by MotorSport New Zealand, and will be managed and
promoted jointly by A1GP, MIT (the operators of the Taupo Motorsport
Park) and A1 Team.NZL.
New Zealand franchise holder Colin Giltrap says the A1GP round will
be the biggest motorsport event seen in New Zealand for 50 years.
"Not since the halcyon days of the New Zealand Grand Prix at Ardmore
in the 1950s have we hosted such a major motorsport event," Giltrap
said.
"This is a major coup for motorsport and will have far-reaching
benefits for the country as a whole - economically and from a
profile perspective."
More than 20 countries compete in the nation versus nation series,
which starts its second season in the Netherlands on October 1, and
the London-based Clare says A1GP is thrilled to be heading to New
Zealand.
"Given A1's growth and the increasing popularity of motorsport, it
is an opportunity that needed to be seized now and I'm sure Taupo
will host a memorable event and showcase this beautiful country to
the world," he said.
"New Zealand always punches above its weight on the world stage and
the team's performance in finishing fourth in the inaugural
championship simply highlighted the Kiwi team's talent and
professionalism."
The New Zealand Government has confirmed it will provide $2 million
over the next three years to enable the Taupo Motorsport Park to
upgrade its facilities.
Trevor Mallard, the Minister for Economic Development as well as the
Minister for Sport and Recreation, said A1GP's drive to include
Taupo was another example of the country's ability to host world-
class events.
"This is a major achievement for New Zealand motorsport and a huge
fillip for the tourism and event industries," Mallard said.
"We're eagerly anticipating the Rugby World Cup and World Rowing
Champs in 2011. Now, we have a prestigious motorsport event taking
place and it's just around the corner.
"I'm sure New Zealanders will embrace such a quality event being
held in our backyard and, as a government, we're pleased to have
helped with funding and will now be examining how we can leverage
this significant opportunity."
The countries involved in A1GP account for 80 percent of the world's
population and Clare is certain the impressive media coverage of the
inaugural Series will be enhanced in its second year.
In Season One A1GP had an average live television audience of 7.7
million for each round across 37 networks in 120 countries, with 127
different programmes generated per round. Some 2000 media
representatives attended the 11 events.
When the A1GP roadshow, including its own TV production arm,
international media and the teams of more than 20 nations, descend
on Taupo, the event is conservatively estimated to be worth more
than $23 million to the New Zealand economy.
"It's why we fought so hard to bring A1GP to Taupo," said David
Steele, Managing Director of track managers MIT.
"We're determined to make this a truly special round and ensure its
ongoing prominence on the A1 calendar because the economic benefits
to Taupo and the country are so profound, especially as it's an
annual competition, not a one-off."
Steele said the Taupo track was being upgraded to meet the
requirements needed to run races of A1GP's calibre and he promised a
fast and exciting circuit.
"But it's not just the track that will receive a makeover," he
said. "The government funding will be used primarily to build a pit
lane complex, as well as media and corporate facilities in keeping
with the stature of an A1GP event."
Steele said accommodation had already been booked for the A1 teams
and "great strides" had already been made in logistics and planning,
from ticketing and entertainment through to crowd safety and traffic
management.
"We will work alongside Motorsport New Zealand and A1 Team.NZL to
release details as soon as we possibly can. Tickets should be on
sale early September."
The weekend will provide a feast of action for motor racing fans
with MotorSport New Zealand announcing that the Taupo round of the
New Zealand Championships, originally scheduled for March, will now
be brought forward to coincide with the A1GP meeting.
Steven Kennedy, the President of MotorSport New Zealand, said the
clash with the Timaru round of the championships has been resolved
and all the racing classes will participate in Taupo.
"Achieving A1GP's target date has required a major revision to the
MotorSport New Zealand calendar and I would like to thank the South
Island clubs and the six different championship racing classes who
have accommodated the shift in their proposed meeting dates to
March," Kennedy said.
"We are delighted to see the A1GP race in New Zealand and will work
with the A1GP organisation to ensure a successful Taupo meeting."

New Zealand franchise holder Colin Giltrap says the A1GP round will
be the biggest motorsport event seen in New Zealand for 50 years
no supprised to see the name Giltrap in there. However to say it's the biggest event in motorsports in the last 50 years is taking it abit to far.
I would have thought that the WRC would have been big enough. Just because not alot of people follow it around this part of the world doesn't mean it's not big.
Plus A1 only been around 1 year  it's not that big yet.
