Wazza - $750 was what I charged ages ago, these prices have been current for 6 months or more, and i'm getting plenty of bookings. This latest update was changing the way things were written, to make it more obvious that people have to buy an album.

If people can edit out the link to my website from their posts that'd be appreciated :)

The business side is almost more important than the photography. You have to be a good photographer, which you are, then get a bit of experience, which you're doing, then have enough business savvy to develop things.

Picked up the hood, a Crumpler Karachi Outpost backpack (it is huge!) and a cokin tobacco grad from AC as well. That is my camera spending for a while I think!

One thing I am disappointed about is the trademe seller swapped the nice marumi filter pictured and mentioned in the auction for an crappy no name one. He will get an opportunity to swap it before I post bad feedback.

There will be more detailed signature limits very soon because 500 character limit is just not enough. I will try to remove the reason for long sigs (gear lists) with some other stuff soon.

Sorry about the quality of the pics earlier, obviously I wasn't using the new lens for them. Repeat after me "Do not try to use a crappy old Sony digicam to take photo's in a dark room!"

Just got back from Daniel's school production where I took about 170 photo's mostly with the 17-55. It performed very well in demanding lighting conditions. Don't think there is much post worthy, not due to the lens but my lack of flair and experience at this type of photography. I'll wade through them and find something to post later.

It was interesting, there were loads of P&S cameras there, and a number of DSLRs and I was the only person not using on board flash (or any flash). Oh except for the guy with the camera phone that didn't have a flash. What people expect such a puny flash to do from the other end of a school hall I don't know.

Can I just say a public thank you to a member who helped me out with my buggered laptop. Basically the CD didn't work and I had no other way to reload windows. Well this member came to the rescue. He doesn't know me from a bar of soap, apart from the fact a bar of soap can't use a laptop (no fingers you see) and I wouldn't know him even if he punched me in the face. Except for the fact that if someone did punch me in the face, I'd know it was him. Anyway, he sent me a replacement CD, not simply across town but to the other end of the country. Plus he's a bit busy at the mo with the new arrival.

So stand up and take a bow....Duncan.

Plus it shows that the NZ members on POTN are more than just members of an internet forum.

Am I out of line here guys? Have a look at this:

http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=69188979

I got this email from the seller after I complained that he had swapped the filter in the picture for a crappy old horrible no name one, and he offered me a $30 refund which I accepted.

Refunding the money now but just be aware of what is said in the auction "77mm UV filter" only. Marumi was never mentioned.

And considering that you made me wait for more than a week for payment, I think it is rather petty on your part and ungentlemanly to respond in such an underhanded manner.

Well, let it be on your conscience, not mine! I will sleep well tonight, that's for sure!

He is right Marumi was not mentioned in the text of the auction, but the picture clearly shows a good Marumi filter.

This was my reponse:

1) I made clear before I bid when I was able to collect and pay. If you had a problem with that you should have said so! Perhaps you should refer to the questions and answers on the auction if you don't remember this.

2) The photograph on your auction clearly shows a high quality filter, not the 20 year old piece of junk on the lens. The change in filter clearly changes the value of the auction. The price I paid was not enough below what many retailers sell this lens for me to ignore this.

3) You offered the refund, I did not ask for it.

4) You also did not provide me with proof of purchase, so effectively I don't have the 11 month warranty that you advertised in your auction. It would be appreciated if you would supply this.

I'm sorry if you think I am being underhanded, but I just want what you advertised on the auction. If you would prefer to refund the $1500 I am happy to return the lens. Up to you.

I used the lens tonight at my son's school production. It is a very nice lens, and I would like to keep it. I don't want you to feel ripped off, but I don't want me to feel ripped off either, and the fact is if the picture showed the filter you supplied I would not have paid $1500 for the lens.

I will have no problem sleeping tonight, as I believe my comments are well justified.

Thanks for the refund.

Enjoy your photography.

So, am I being unreasonable?

Get at 100% refund if not happy. Then go to auckland camera and pay them full price. At least like me you will know and have learnt that there is no corner cutting with good glass. All my photos were taken with a lens that cost me $2295 and I tryed to save $400 and it bit me on the a$$

Scott it sucks but thats trademe.

Option 2 is suck it up and go buy a desent filter but proof of purchase is a must and he got it from pro gear and you guys know what I think of them and Glam.

Buy local buy new buy from auclkand camera thats what we should all DO :)

PS Scott just read your feed back on this guy, I feel you were a bit quick to respond. I never had ago at the trader who tryed to screw with me over the 70-200 I just left it alone. As much as I want to make comment on his relisting hope he got the issue fixed.

Our passion is best saved for our photography and wives :)

Even tho this is a private sale, the UV filter that is in the picture should have been one that was supplied with the lens. So you are unreasable to ask for this. Like any sale with in NZ, even private ones you have the right to ask for your money back if your not happy with the item. You also have the right to ask for the item which was advertised. in this case it's also the UV filter which we can all see is attached to the lens.

This also covers the proof of purchase which he offered with the lens. Any seller in NZ has to provide what they are saying they can provide. It would be like buying a car with no wheels even tho it had wheels when you had taken it for a test drive :)

If the picture wasn't of the lens that he sold you then he should have stated otherwise.

Now it comes down to you. Do you wish the extra hassle of dealing with this guy or just put it down to the experience. Buy a good uv filter and then buy all other camera equipment from Auckland Camera Centre.

Am I out of line here guys?
So, am I being unreasonable?

Hi Scott ... a quick answer to your questions. The first one... No you are not out of line asking the question that you asked him. He has a picture of a filter thats the one he should supply, he offered a transferable warranty, thats what he should supply, i think your getting the drift here,,, you had an expectation of this product with filter. If the guy wants to provide a lesser filter he needs to state in the auction product may be different from pictured. Its misrepresentation not to this.

Are you being unreasonable,,, that slightly different,

no your not to bring up these points, but maybe you should have brought them up with him first. Let him and yourself sort them out yo a point, where you are both happy.

Personally i think posting bad feedback is a last resort , its a bit like going to fair go to sort out an issue that will not go away.

Try to talk first then screw them. Just my point of view..

So unreasonable for asking no, unreasonable for posting bad feed back yep. (unless he does not listen to objections).

One last point the goods were advertised as new... this gives you your full consumer rights, you have the same rights with this guy as you would with a shop.

Anyway enjoy the lens - i still have not used mine yet (i want the first shot to great)

Where is the others? Up or downstream or a different stream altogether?

As you go down the track to the main falls is a bend the rest are on that stream there are heaps of small ones they follow the lone karui rd if you need to beware that you cant get to all of them there are trackes that lead down as some are inpassable following the stream up.

Go for a walk and have an explore. Check my pbase site for examples. Its the opal pools stream

As you come down Karekare rd you get to the bottom there is a bridge and car park. Thos falls are heading up karekare rd. If you walk up karekare rd you will come across a drive way (right hand side walking up on the road) with a small hut there is a set of starirs that lead bown to a track that has ben bulldozed out. it comes to a dead end you will need to cross the stream follow your nose and your ears. If you get it right yor feet will not get wet :) Should take you no more than 15min from the car park to the falls by foot
