shoot went well last night, the lights were a bit intermittent - think that may have been down to my camera's hotshoe or something. looking forward to doing a bit of processing on them tonight!

A fair bit, but mostly just did what seemed to look right... For me it was just an experience thing.
Not sure about samples, I'll do some editing and check with all concerned first. Should probably be ok.

Its difficult to say whats better its like comparing an apple with an orange.
EDIT: plasma if you have the room, lcd if space is an issue -- mainly because of the 'pixel' size.

needed a few bits and pieces so I checked on B & H then emailed panavision, auckland camera and apix for some prices. Panavision had the best overall price for lowepro bags, Auckland camera was way cheaper than other nz stores for lenses but i ordered them from B&H $640 nz cheaper excluding freight and customs. Never heard back from apix! and one bag i have ordered from photo & Video think there in chch was $100 cheaper + free delivery.

The black helicopters are not for loan.
For a small fee thier sevices can be "utilised" however.
But, they require the use of one of our own "special" pilots.

The are the same guys I use, a couple of the guys here also recomend them. The 10MB limit can be a bit small, but I was redirecting "archived" content to my home box and that worked. Don't have anything up there at the moment.
Whilst you are at it it may pay to register you full name as a dot com, if someone else gets it you are unlikely to get a second chance. Many photographers use their name in their company name as it is afterall all about your reputation!

I used them a few years ago. Their customer service was excellent, but they had more downtime that I was happy with. I would recommend setting up a free one month acconut with www.alertra.com to monitor their website for a while to see.
I use http://www.hostgator.com - their customer service is incredible, their servers are fast and reliable. I have the baby plan, and it's huge.
I have plenty of space, bandwidth, etc available on my hosting account, i'd be happy to do you a good deal on some hosting space. Can run your own domain name and have ftp access. Drop me a PM if interested.

Tony, I use kiwiwebhosting. granted they may be a tad more than overseas companys, but at the end of the day the amount that I am paying per year is small compaired to the other things I pay for. Sky is $900 per year. Internet is $720 per year. (prox on both accounts)
I would go with a .co.nz address if I was you. You are selling your services to people who live in NZ and if they know that your address in NZ could mean a thing or two to people. Also it really doesn't matter. The only one that it matters to is the geeks. (just don't choose geek.net.nz)
www.rawbeauty.co.nz is fine is small and simple. At some point you will have to come up with a name. If you don't like it, in a years time you could change it to what ever you like. You could also go with rb.co.nz which is simpler. But you are right rawbeauty could mean anything.
But you are the type of person that just does things so the real question is have ya done it yet ? ? ? ?

The reason for the
"raw beauty" is that it describes the west coast and the discovering I do.
"raw beauty" is that have you ever looked at a woman walking down the street not dressed up but she has that something that just makes you go WOW (oh and dont any of you guys say you dont).
I guess I want to take some thing in its raw format and make it into something beautiful. Does that make sence?

And to keep it about photography, i wouldn't host in nz cause its so expensive. host in the states ... your customers have to wait a second more, but you save $$ each month. i'm using coppermine gallery atm, but ee will probably also come under scrutiny soon - i was worried about it's security at one point, it seemed to need a lot of patching.

that was taken at F8 @ 30 secs. That the best picture so far :) it's strange most of my shots have a small amount of camera shakes but most of these are about 5 secs max. this is 30 secs and eveything works well.
Still trying a few things out. the windscreen is dirty :( and shooting in raw with a custom white balance will fix some problems :) the a/c area has had the lights replaced with blue leds :) I would like to do the whole dash but I am replacing the car.

Tag - what lenses are you after?
I really want the 24-70 2.8L . My 28-135 is far too soft for my liking. I see you have the Siggy 24-70. One sold on TM for $640. What's the sharpness like?

What a crap afternoon :(
Had lunch at the beach with Scott and family, that was good, got my first sunburn for the season :D
However little Rebecca has not been that good today, with an ever increasing temperature, Shona took her to A&E with a 40degC temp at 4pm and didn't come home :(
Just got back from an evening in the Middlemore Emergency ward. Good news is she is on some serious antibiotics now and have been transferred to a ward in Kids First, Shona is staying with Rebecca, and I have palmed Elizabeth of to some friends.
Poor little thing was a pincushion, tried a lumber puncture three times on her and they still didn't get it right, I lost count how many times they tried to get a line in, then there was the pee sample, a 3 week old cannot pee into a cup, so they have to use alternatives (lets leave that one there!). Still not sure what is wrong
Anyway a pic of the little trooper taken on the old cell cam having a snooze in daddy's arms after a pincushion session:

Tag: I am very happy with the Siggy 24-70 (so is Tony/Weka) -- but don't lend me an L as I might suddenly see the light ;-) It is on my camera 85% of the time. My 28-105 (like Pete's) at f8 seems to do the job right... anything bigger than that and it gets soft. Can't wait to get my hands on the 70-200IS and 17-40L -- 1 week to go... I hope!
Chris: What's your exif data and distance to the players. I like the way the background is blurred a bit. My experiments with sports photography (primary school ;-)) have been alright but need to get my aperture correct to give focus on the players rather than getting the whole background in focus.

well to be honest its the lens.. that 70 - 200 IS is great .. may have to get a 400 for even closer shots.
1st shot was at 10 meter (ish)
1/1000 sec shutter speed
F/7.1 aperture
Focal Length 170 mm
ISO - 1600
2nd Shot
at 8 meters (ish)
1/1250
175mm (the rest the same)
if had opened up the aperture fully this would have blurred the back ground a little more.. as this was my first attempt i was quite happy.
What was fun was they saw the camera and started showboating. As a defender i just wanted to put on my boots and break something.. nothing worse than a midfielder showboating for the camera. (a crunching tackle soon stops that)

however if they keep th price at $500... ill get one.. just for the kudos effect.

The paper has Canon as well as Nionk. He seemed to like the one he was using. He agreed that ISO800 on the Canon was ISO400 on the Noink and the Canon was better for night rugby. I don't think he was impressed either way. It is simply a tool for doing his job. He only shoots jpg as printing on newspaper doesn't need anything else.
