What brand paper have you chosen?
Canon Paper, canon inks. Why is there something better? Most of the reviews said to stick with the canon paper as it gives great results. They have some new type of paper comming out along with a new bunch of printers. 1 that has 10 colours.

Thanks, I'm going to get it printed today. Not sure how big yet.
I did bracket the exposure, but ended up only using one of the shots because it was bang on. I purposely left the sky out of the frame because it was a bright white soft box. I like what the poloriser did, I will be using it a bit more in future.

Good boy! Just checking that you hadn't strayed from the fold... I'm using Canon Photopaper Pro. When in Singapore earlier this year my 'feminine side' was tempted by, and bought a dinky Canon printer (subliminal dye) Selphy CP710. It produces stunning prints (6x4 postcard). At 30c each, it's no saving on the local lab, but convenient, and as I said she bought it along with a stack of refills.
What's the story with these 'GKPE' caps? Clearly I'm out of touch with things...

That's so last week. In fact I like the new spelling feature. You have installed the AU one tho as colour gets highlighted as being incorrect. typical Americans :)
I have been out with friends today. My friend really loved her photo, in fact it seems that everyone I show it to loves it. She has been trying to get me to sell my photos but I am not really in to photography for that.
I really must say that I was dispointed with myself with the number of non keepers from yesterday. I had taken about 250 photos and only got 1 or 2 that I really like. :(

Hello, I'm still alive :)
Yes, I had a massive hang over, its still only just subsiding.
The new user title is a good laugh, hope it doesn't hang around to long......
Scott, those water fall shots, and the cyanide plant shots all got a WOW out of Amanda and myself. All very nice, lots of contrast, and I love how the strong the greens are in them.
Iv got a little over 200 shots to sort though, but will hopefully have something up this evening.
Definitely learned that I need more time behind the viewfinder, the 30D is so primitive in some respects to the A80, but the image IQ is a frightening improvement.

It was a one off from the e-Stitching in Botany, they have saved the graphics though so can do more, it is about $10 embroidery + hat cost (you can BYO).
Oh and it is probably card time too, gave an old one out yesterday to a guy on the Windows Walkway, he didn't seem too enthusiastic, had to write our new address on the back. He didn't seem all that happy, I guess he was looking for the MacOS Walkway or Linux Walkway

And to prove there really was a Windows Walkway, here is the sign, it was defiantly a highlight, never seen anything quite like it, basically an old mine along the cliff face that had the old hole in it you could look out:

I cant see me going 1D for a while. All I will gain is weather sealing. Get the good glass then the bodys.
I think my glass collection is about right. I found some one has my next "wish list lens" Canon 400 F5.6 L. It will be nice to test on FF as a birding lens. But at $2k how much birding do I do. Bigma on 30D does the job......but its no "L"
The 24-105 is a nice bit of glass. The first thing I noticed was the weight. Its nicely weighted bit like the 17-40. "IS" is a nice feature and did use it but just need to remember to turn it on  I will do some tests to see how sharp it is
I give it a 8.5/10 that may go up after the sharpness test.
Glam does them for around $1700 inc

He also said that mine was the first one to be looked it. They have got my celphone and my e-mail address. It's not like I don't answer either of them.
Moppie sorry to hear about the job loss.
You know you could become a photographer? borrow Tonys studio setup and bingo :)
BTW I am on 200 pages. I like to see 50 posts per page.
EDIT: just got home and what do I find, a 2k lens sitting on my door step. My baby has come home :) guess what they had done, nothing zip, nada. found no fault with the lens.

Did it give an overview of what they did do to it?
the comments where: "Tested lens at 100 and 300 at F4 and various distances, Focusses at correct points, sharp as digital allows (8mp) suggest your test shot focussed on branches in font of chimney"
they have used a 350D and included 8 print outs in b&w showing the test results.
and this is the shot they were talking about with the focus point shown.
http://www.cuthbert.net.nz/potn/100.jpg
It does look like the camera is focused on the trees rather than the chimney. if you wish to see the fill file let me know and I will e-mail it to ya.

The branches are in focus not the chimminy. Isnt that called front focusing.
Typical they would use a cropped camera :)

As a matter of interest - there is an IPTC Core XMP embedded in the image. Look at the caption field.

Best price, good product. IE and FF versions. I use it a lot. If you are looking through some of the photo sharing sections, you can workout what settings some people used on their pix with a simple right-click (some pix, though, don't have EXIF imbedded because of the save method used).

hey Clive, what's the name of that software you use to edit your raw files? I wont to give it ago.
I am still struggling to drive it, but it is clearly worth the effort. Have just processed a cyanide vat shot including the keystone correction - marvellous. And it is all done in one processing. Photoshop not needed for most enhancements, but still needed for "editing".
It is created by a group of mathematicians - I have just realised that its groupings of tools is based on physics rather than user operations. Different but I like it.
http://www.dxo.com/en
Standard version of 4.0 is US$150. Not much considering its power, its awards over the last two years. Or, Tony could have used its very effective automatic vignetting correction instead of buying a different L lens!
Don't look at any version before v4 - the workflow is vastly improved.
By the way, I use Breeze Downloader Pro and Breeze Browser Pro for downloading and renaming and inserting IPTC data, and managing the files. These three packages are the heart of my processing.

The IPTC data is inserted automatically during download but is not transferred by my new DxO v4, raw converter. There may be a setting...
So, I use BreezeBrowser's ability to transfer the data from the CR2 to the Jpeg before posting.

Fair call. I was thinking, more specifically, of the shots that were 'saved for web' to fit size/dimension restrictions of places like this. One of the first things stripped out is the EXIF/IPTC data..
It's been a while since I looked at the BreezeBrowser software - might have to go get my rego info and download an update or three.
