Are you voluntarily in the market or are you being forced?
Anything specific, or is it just drop-saw-thru-hard-drive work you're after?
Oh its quite voluntary.
Its actually a nice company, nice people etc.
But there is no where for me to go in terms of personal and roll development, unless the company is able to grow and expand as well. Unfortunately that isn't going to happen, its become very conservative and almost complacent. Its he market leader, and doesn't think it needs to change or grow to stay there.
So I'm job hunting.
Anything in mid-level operations, project support/management, system analysis, or problem solving type role is of interest.
I have a fairly unique academic education, mixed with a varied technical/engineering, customer service and management job history all in a variety of different industries.

The iPod is a benchmark product that has set many standards in industrial and modern design however I too don't think I will own one, if I took a bus/train/ferry/black helicopter to work I might get one.

If you ever want to do it, yes it does work. I tested it on that great non MS product VMWare. I was in a nasty "I need more than 2TB on a clustered volume" situation. This seems to be the best way to do it. Transparent to the users and no dfs to setup.

well not only did I find the name of your cat highly illogical, but the amount of information required to compare star trek and Babylon 5 would point to the fact that star trek is far superior.
As a point of note, your cat should be called bob. There are far to many reasons for this but the universe has shown that the name bob comes up far to many times. In fact it would seem that the name bob may be the name of the first god ever created.

well not only did I find the name of your cat highly illogical, but the amount of information required to compare star trek and Babylon 5 would point to the fact that star trek is far superior.
A quite illogical series of statements I must say. It is illogical that names should have a logical meaning. That said, there was reason used in the selection of his name. It was as logical as an emotional desicion can be.
The differences between Star Trek and Babylon 5 are certianly vast, and would require some deep study of lots of data. But the existance of said data in no way implies one to be superior to the other. The idea is itself illogical.
The idea of one being superior to another is based in Ethical ideals of right and wrong.
Star Trek deals in very old fashioned concepts of Good vs Evil, and was never able to rise above them. They formed the core themes of most episodes, and all of the movies.
Babylon 5 however follows humanities struggle with the concept of Good vs Evil, and a final battle of two sides, each representing Good and Evil depending on context, and concludes with the final understanding the concepts in Good vs Evil morality are infact subjective.
Humanity is then able to begin to rise above the concepts of Good vs Evil, and develop a more open minded set of moral values.
It is this, on going theme, developed over 5 seasons that makes babylon 5 the better show.
It teachs us about how we should be, while Star Trek merely locks into the past, and deals with how we are.

Interesting thing you say about B5, I believe that Star Trek does the same thing. They just do it in different ways and by using different stories.
I found they explored a lot of "other" themes and ideas, but there was always an over riding "US vs Them, Good vs Evil" approach to any real hard moral conflicts. There was always the Fedeation vs the Klingons, then Everyone vs the Borg. At the most base level it was all about Good and Evil, with maybe a some examination of what good and evil is, but never enough to make the leap to the realisation that they are just subjective constructs.
When I first started watching B5 I got the feeling I was about to see a TV show built on the same formula, and after the end of the second season I was pretty sure I was right. Then the 3rd season changed the ideals, and they started to question the whole Good vs Evil approach.

well I guess it comes down to the fact that everything we watch is subject to the viewer. Some of the best star trek is about the individual, which in a lot of ways has nothing to do with good vs evil. While there is a lot of star trek out there, not all of it is equal. That's the same said for B5, even during the best season (which is S3) not everyone is great TV.
While trying to compare the 2 shows together really is fair. While they are trying to say the same thing in general, and while the methods of telling them are different. There is also a lot that separates them both.
While I enjoyed B5 and have all the box sets at home, I have grown up with Star Trek. which is always going to be at the top of the pile. :)
Hey at least star trek voyager the Dr had a hobby of photography. It could even create holograms out of his photos.

Very true, at the end of the day they are both great Sci Fi.
Im not a super heavy fan of TV sci fi though, thats more Amandas domain. I find it very light in terms of a lot of what it deals with, and its often very clean.
I do read a lot though, Ian Banks and Robery Hienlein being top of the list. There is just so much more you can get away with in a book :)

Is it possible to get a useful PSD for $25 (plus postage of course)? Well I am about to find out. Here is Part 1 of my mini review of the “7 in 1 Storage Bank” I got off Trademe.
It comes with an 1800mAH LiIon battery with a little white plug to connect it. This is a little trick to connect with the case on, but no big deal.
A charger is included. This has an American pug on it so you will need an adapter or a pair of pliers before you can plug it in.
You also get a driver CD, usb cable, and a manual is several languages including reasonably good English. Oh, there is a flimsy cloth pouch which would keep the dust out I guess.
The Build Quality is better than I was expecting for $25. Not great but OK. Seems reasonably sturdy, with a metal chassis that the hard drive screws into and OK quality plastic exterior. It’s not sealed at all, the card slots are open to the environment so keep it away from water and dust.
It has got 2 buttons – power and copy, and a small mono lcd screen. It’s got a USB2 port, charger socket, and CF, SM, SD/MMC/MS slot. Nothing too fancy, as you would expect for this price.
So far so good…..the battery is charging so watch out for part 2 coming soon, which will include performance tests….

I also bought one and got it today, interesting way they finish the sale after the auction/buy now...... I have been charging mine as well you can charge it from the usb so you don't realy need the power charger, I just bent the pins round on the plug to make it fit

Some advice on shooting the cars would also be good.. where when and how..
The one thing I have noticed about photos from the motorsport section that make me go WOW is they are all taken from directly in front or a front 3/4 view of the car, usually just about to turn into a corner. I suppose it means there is minimal camera shake due to trying to pan and click at 1/60. Or it's a front view coming over a crest.

This will be a long story if it is correct exposures you're after. Do you have your exposures basics up to scratch? It is better to get 90-95% of the shot right (exposure, composition, etc) and then leave as little to tweak on photoshop.

Hi All
Geez, half an hour later and I am caught up - mind you some pages were a breeze to get thru, all that sci-fi stuff was easy to miss :P
I would love to go to Pukekohe this weekend, but won't be there - or at the A1GP either by the looks of things :(
(hard sell on)If you are going to Pukekohe this weekend, have a look at 'Frank', TKR's battered and stuffed V8 supercar, and see how lucky Paul Radisich was to only end up with a broken ankle and sternum, the car will be at the track both days, and while you are there, buy a raffle ticket (with a chance to go to Clipsal next year - or for a drive day with the Rat, among other prizes) to help TKR stay on track :D or buy the last pieces of holden merchandise. The new Ford stuff, I have to say, looks brilliant from the 'artist impression' (ok hard sell over).
