Here's my days work... More like 20min worth!
I didn't stay for the afternoon rallying, as was so wet, and need my camera to actually work tomorrow!

2) Droped onto rocks while on tripod
I did a test similar to that too, falling from a cliff at Shakespear Park.
350D and 100-400 had no problems at all (so I imagine the same would have been for the 1DIIn as well), while I left there a little slice of my trousers and of my left knee! :(

Come on I cant be the only one that requires tough gear to go with the attitude. How many good photos are lost cause of rain, snow, saltwater from hudge waves and water from waterfalls
Seems 90% of phototogs are sunday summer shooters :p
Extereme photography is the what I love. Cause no one else is crazy enough
and I get a niche market ;)

John dont forget about the thigh deep in muud and the camera left out in the rain over night. Now which lens did I have on it at the time
John whats the story re your job?
My job... still at Hill & Stewart... but waiting on an offer from the company I applied with some 6 months ago... problem is the guy is so busy flying accross the ditch that the contract hasn't been drawn up. I am actually looking forward to it since it will give me back my weekends and get to join you guys with the GKPEs...
EDIT: He does keep me in the loop just so I know that he isn't just yanking my chain...
good score John - them cables are $120 on their own...
Thanks Duncan! I kinda figured that If I put in $120 on auto bid I would be safe.
Good grief! How on earth did I miss that?
Iv got some money burning a hole in my wallet, I figur Ill spent at least half of it on camera gear, so Iv been checking trademe everyday.
I did the usual search for off shoe cord... these come as rare as hens teeth ;)
Well quick update on Wekas world.
1) I dont want a 500,000 house now, disater material no room to breath
2) I have lined up some model shoots next week  ( I will post in G/N)
3) Web site getting there
4) Stock photos dead in water at moment due to time.
How is everyone elses world?
1) I would not rush into buying a house... you need to get the right feel. Just from your comment it would seem that you haven't found the right one yet.
2) Post em quick!
3) It doesn't need to be 100% perfect... just something that you feel is good. You may not get it up and running if you want to get everything down pat...
4) And I thought you were the one with all the time to take photos:p
I did a test similar to that too, falling from a cliff at Shakespear Park.

right, what's wrong the 1.8 that you got. not sharp enough?
as promised here is a side by side review of the sigma and the macro side by side, using the 400d.
http://www.cuthbert.net.nz/potn/sig_can_400d.jpg
this is the same settings for both shots, iso 100, F4, 1/4s as one can see both images are spot on. it's interesting to see how sharp the 100mm macro is against the sigma zoom. I keep thinking that the zoom should be the same sharpness, but we all know that zoom glass isn't as sharp as a prime.
Also on a side note, my 28-135 is definitely faulty, it acted the same as on the 400d as on the 10d.

I just started!
Very well organised people though, lots of helpful documentation.
The gallary software is easy to use, and they have a variety of easy ways of getting the photos online.
Although there are options you have access to, but are not allowed to change, so they are clearly use a generic software package designed for only one photog.
Im not a big fan of thier colours and logos, but it works and stands out.
If you have a look at the other gallarys there is an interesting range of photography there, from the very good, to the very ordinary.

All work and no play makes Pete a dull boy...
...I am very busy with the work thing (both IT and Photography) at the moment, doing quite a bit of out of hours etc. I actually unsubscribed from this thread so I didn't get distracted! (Just was having a quick lookie this morning, nothing seems to have changed :) )
I have no work for three weeks over Christmas, which means no pay so I am making up for it now!

Never taken one in my life.
But it does raise a couple of issues. FHM is way past me. I want to start slowely. This is why I need more portrait work under my belt (so to speak)
I have 1 model lined up for next week. Summer dress and one tree hill. Simple yet sexy. May need my reflector. Im trying to avoid Sudio lights at the moment.

I was thinking tho, perhaps you should also just try normal portiarts as well. I know that you don't like doing it, but it will give you the experience with dealing with lighting etc. So when it comes down to photography the model the way you wont to. Things such as lighting etc is 2nd nature.
