Morning all!
Iv taken this week off, heading to Welly on Saturday, coming back on the 27th, and back to work until the 8th, then another week off.
Amanda has written a list of work to do on the house, and I have a huge pile of PP to do as well. Iv been busy with the new camera, and just haven't had the time or energy to get any photos out.

So, are we doing the GKPE Summer BBQ thing in January? My place is available on the 13th if everybody is keen.
Shot the staff christmas do on friday, and the open days a while ago. Can't say I really enjoy this type of photography. I'm hoping to get back to some landscapes over the 3 weeks I have off, in between painting the house, doing the garden, and entertaining the kids that is.

I'm just looking at the RAWs I took at my work function. Didn't realise I took so many shots.
Saturday 13th I think is fine.
I'm working 6 day weeks throughout January, but Sunday to Friday, with Saturday off.
Also end of month, is the Roger Waters concert. :)
I tried landscapes at Piha a couple of nights ago.. But the clouds fizzled the sunset out. :(

As for the Tony approach....... The goal has not changed. woman 30-50. At this stage models are keen and the price is right.
Manners are manners and I will not budge from my principals. If it is good enought for me to be on time, or to ring if there is a problem then it is good enought for everyone to show me the same consideration.
This is costing me money. My petrol to pick up and drop back. My money for the cds and then to drop off.

You'll prob find that most people have a different online persona than they do in real life.. its easy to hide behind a keyboard....
Time for a change of subject I think - Wazza - great pic.. interesting concept.. :)
Santa is useless in our house - we have to buy our own presents.. what a shame!! I guess the only way to get what you really want....

Now why on earth to poeple have to come and snipe on an Auction, with an auto bid thats at least $40 more than the current bid.
Very poor form IMO. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=81040646
It sat at $166 until the last minute, I was leading. Then he sniped it, and so Iv bid it up to $200. At the seller can get something good out of it.

You should be doing that anyway - what more would you expect.. they dont need anything else when you give it to them all in one go...... I would do the same probably.
Ive been pondering this some what. I have tryed to have follow up sessions. Maybe I need to think that I get 1 shot. To plan my shots that way I can be assertive to what I want.
Will ponder some more. I feel that im still not in full control.

More so - offer them something so they come back to you.. for instance like you said - give them a CD of low res images with your watermark on them - and perhaps say that if they want prints you can offer them at a price and also if they want a CD of high res images then they pay for it.. :)

Just have "Tony Searle Photography" along the top with email and phone number straight underneath and then two smaller images like you have that go straight to the two galleries.

Also as we've all mentioned before, keep the text uniform. Stick to one font for all pages, but your name text is fine to be something else, after all it's your logo.
I also think you have much better photos as an example of that soft focus image. I personally hate that style, and prefer tack sharp images, even sharp images can have a glow or something to make it stand out.
Edit: Also the splash page image, is crooked. Leaning to the left. Make it level ;)

Its looking good Tony, I have to agree with Warren about the Glamour photo though. The Landscapes one is fantastic, but the glamour one just looks out of focus.
Does anyone know of any shops that sell tripods that are not cheap and nasty, and not Manfrotto?
All I can find is the Manfrotto brand, which is nice, but I would like to have a little choice.

Woohoo -- I finally got some of my pictures published!!! . . . Although it is only on my son's school magazine I guess it is a start. A few of them were from the school camp, and the others from the school's first ever production - The Last Gasp Cafe. I am really happy that they did find the pictures fit for publication.:D
Funny thing too that the head of the school production is asking me to take her wedding photos. She's getting married sometime next year... what's funny about it...? I have no idea what I'm getting myself into... nor do I have any idea of how to go about shooting a wedding!!!:o

So Mark.. If there are more posts per page, that means there will be less pages... so less to read. Logical!

Westgate.
All honesty, no.
There's been some more photographers turn up, only one I rate highly, and another couple are ok..
There's some newbies there, and don't sell anything. It's not worth it. Especially when you pay $135 for rent. So I made $260 in a week... The cost of that would have been about $150 to me, $90 extra, which goes to rent.. Still not in fact a profit. :p

Avoid frontpage like the plague.
Just do a bit of googling about CSS, thats what you want to be using. It will make administering/expanding your website easier and keep it all looking consistent.

That store on Cook St, A2Z Technologies? Had tripods I think - well mostly massive $2000 video tripods, professional stuff. That's where I bought my Kata rain cover.. Thanks to who?. John? or was that someone else, sorry so many people on these forums!
My fault... and I should have bought them too when you did - they are now double the price you got them for!!!

Interesting. Where's the job ad? They probably wouldn't like me running my own photography business while I worked for theirs.

Certainly looks nice, Mangere Bridge prices seem to have gone up at a higher rate than some other areas of Auckland, a bit like Onehunga and other established areas.
My 10-20 arrived this afternoon, outstanding width, could get some unusual perspectives with this little baby. Need to get a filter on it soon, front element protrudes soo much!!

I'd change the chairs. Man those ones in the dining room look ugly! A complete self enclosed studio downstairs would be nice. How tall are the rooms? I guess being on the ground floor you could just dig a little deeper to increase the room height.

I might just have to get one of those. Not sure what lens to get next. The 10-20, or the 100mm macro. First I have to finnish paying off my new computer.
