Dave said he'll send you some shots with Paul by the car also... :-)

Whos up for a waterfall adventure. Requires getting wet but worth the shot.

http://www.awoladventures.co.nz/Piha%20Canyoning.htm

There is a series of canyons below the main falls. Further down the track is the bottom of the canyon with a pool that needs to be crossed in order to get up and into the canyon.

I was thinking backpak in black rubbish bag on a car tire tube to get across (yes you will have to swim)

Have to be afternoon due to sun unless overcast day.

Busy? Hah!

I had my first day back at work, with the exception of a Wednesday worked week and a half ago, I haven't really done any work in 2 1/2 weeks. I can say it was really tough, my brain was going to sleep before the first break!

I guess I better update my website soon again, and add more recent photos, especially the wedding shots, which Kirst and I shot. Also made a video slideshow, but don't know if I'll release it publicly, due to a small copyright infringement. ;)

I'm working 3 days a week, and I have a wedding each weekend, some weekends two. Might take the IT up to 4 days a week if I have time and my sanity survives.

Yep, I have nearly 500 images there. I was one of the first photographers. My membership number is nr 131. I see they have now over 47,000 photographers. Makes a nice little bit of pocket money. I have to get around to uploading anoher bunch I have goot ready. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

I'm so pleased that I have zooms and am able to accept the quality they produce. Don't some people make their own lives difficult. He is probably such a prime fanatic he would rather die carrying 5 cameras with primes rather than a couple of zooms. (Ok we'll ignore the f stops & extra picture quality)

Thanks guys.. Here's the wedding pics. With some photo credit to Kirst, always doing an awesome job.

Quality has been severely reduced, but you should get the idea.
No editing on the pics, it was enough of a mission trying to get the timing right with the song, and fade outs, to match or near enough the full length. Made with Windows Movie Maker... Has options for each slide as 6-8 seconds, but I wasn't able to make a change after applying the images to the storyline. I had to physically start all over again, and hoped it matched up. In the end, I removed 3 images, to just get it close enough to the song length.

http://www.warrenwilliams.co.nz/Fiji_Wedding.wmv
right click and save as.. otherwise windows will do it's normal stupidness.

(I lie, the pic of Kirst obviously was quickly edited).
There's a few flaws, such as uneven horizons, and WB differences between two shots taken 2 seconds apart. Warm tone vs. cooler tone. Other than that, guess it was ok.

Some of those prices seem quite reasonable, some are extrondionary!
Clearly aimed at the proffesional market, the sort thats charging several thousand per day.

Let's face it. If we all got together we could do something like that. These guys have 'formed' their own network of photographers. http://www.topicphoto.co.nz. If business is slack, lets rent out our equipment. $310 for the 2N and 24-70 for a day. Would only take 8 days to pay off the lens....anybody want to rent a 2N and 24-70?...anybody?....anybody at all?

Well all the L series zoomed are owned by one or more people in the group, as is the Sigma 120-300.

The TSE 24mm 3.5 L USM MF Tilt Shift could be fun to play with, and at $60 a day isn't to bad a price.
Otherwise only the long primes are potentialy interesting, and at $200 a day for a 400 2.8, way beyond what I would consider good value for money.

I think the price of the rental on the 300 and the 400 is fine. if we all put $50 in the pot we could find we could rent out a couple of bits of glass and a 1Ds for a day.

There must be cheaper studios in Auckland though. Remember that dosn't include any equiment. Just the room.
For $300 you could rent a house with a large double garage for a week in the right (or wrong) part of Auckland.

I don't know about putting in $50. You get to use a 1DMKIIn and a 400L for an hour?
I would rather put that towards buying gear I can use anytime :)

I am sure if you go looking you can find a studio hire that's cheaper. however the price is per day. On the web site they say that a day is 10 hours, which isn't that good. I would expect a day is a day.

Hey it's just an idea. it would be nice to use equipment like that. I know one thing for sure, I wont be buying that equipment any time soon.

Well I'm back and have caught up on the gos. A couple of things I would like to comment on.

Sorry, not tonight - I've just got home. Still have rellies for a few days so things seem to have to be planned ages in advance (kinda like overtaking manouvers in a Mondeo)

After just driving to Mt Maunganui and back in my Mondeo, I can say that a Mondeo is capable of overtaking without much planning at all. Just drop down a gear, and plant your foot. This of course is dependant on you driving a V6 manual Mondeo. Your results may vary.

Secondly, I think I have about 3 people coming to the bbq (which may turn out to not be a bbq if this weather keeps up!) Can we have a quick show of hands of who is coming. Partners and kids welcome. Also, do we have a backup venue if the weather is crap?

The Mt was nice, we got the best of the weather. I got a few photos, but the first time I tried to take any, I got to the beach early one morning to discover that both the batteries in my camera were flat. I charged them before leaving auckland, but that left me with 1 battery for the week.

MVP show this Saturday at Telstra stadium - are you not going Simon? 9am to 9pm.. Drifters and all sorts - I was asked for my price to cover the event, but no response hear back yet.

Also later in evening, Kirst has a 21st party to attend, so it sounds BBQ is completely out of the question.

I'm also working 6 day weeks next 3 weeks, and on 27th, is our 1 year anniversary, with some things planned.. And 29th is Roger Waters..

Hey Warren, I just checked your slide show. Great pictures. There are some real gems.
Love the sunset ones & the one where they are kissing with the sun setting in the BG.
If I was to add any criticism, it would be that there are a few photos where the horizon goes through the middle pf the head. If you could have got higher or lower then it would be above or below the heads. I say that as I constantly get reminded of that problem as I always forget.

Tony.. that pic needs a bit more work on the masking, esp on the right on what appears to be lion rock. perhaps try one with a tad bit more colour in the sky - this one looks a bit too black and white.

all imho.

I know what you are saying re lions rock. The sky was very grey its the rest of the colours that have been saturated.

I do like the B&W look to it esp the sky.

Hello Tony
You have the Canon i9950 printer I think, have you ever experimented with bulk inks (refilling the cartridges). I attempted prior to Xmas but without great results, with either Canon or Lyson paper

Thats getting better. Colour balance looks more natural in this one. I'd get rid of the people.

Exhbition is on hold for a moment. I have the prints, and they've been mounted so its just a matter of sorting out the venue. Will let you know.

Might have to do a private showing in a couple weeks at my new house :)

You should take one of your 100ds of models that are coming out of the woodwork & hang her over / or sit her on that log with a bit of extra lighting. Would make a nice shot.

CF prices have dropped again, 4GB Kingston Elite for $130incGST from the vendor previously located in Albany, $2GB for $65 and 1GB for $38.

If you only have one small card, time to upgrade, no excuses now!

I was away for 10 days and only just filled my 4GB, and I shoot RAW. It wasn't a photographic based holiday though, also never changed card on the last GKPE, hard to loose a card when it is in the camera.

1gb : $76.95
2gb : $136.55

Thats just me sticking to what i know though. What speed are the Kingston ones? we've got a 512mb Kingston Elite Pro card and it seems to have a few issues :S hence why investing in Sandisk instead..
