So, we visited the local country park yesterday, and my son loved all the animals (both these taken with 85mm f/1.8 - the goat at f/1.8, 1/125 s, ISO 400, and the chicken f/2.5, 1/500 s, ISO 100)

Don't goats eyes give you the creeps? :(

Very sharp shots mate.

It's funny, I quite like them, they have a lot of personality :)

Thanks - the 85mm f/1.8 is a great lens to work with - it's really sharp, even wide open - both of these are as shot, just resized down, and 2 pass USM added.

I know what you mean Spencer - sheep and cows just look a bit gormless, whereas goats do have more intelligence behind those eyes.

love the goat shot, the expression is great.

Thanks Spencer - it was actually pretty tricky to get it - my son (21 months) was running round, very excited, around the pen, so the goat was watching him run around - it was hard to catch his head still for more than a fraction of a second :)

Yep, lol, very sinister, as if they are planning world domination... no? ok, maybe it just me... ;)

lol - not necessarily world domination, but they're definitely planning something!

Great detail in them both. Nicely done.

Well I can see why you like goats by your handle. Nice shots by the way.

Thanks Sheldon - the 85mm f/1.8 is a very sharp lens, and captures lots of detail, but there's always the temptation of over-sharpening. . . I'm slowly learning at what point to stop sharpening ;)!

Goats and sheep have the same sort of eyes. The slits are vertical when they have their head up - and when the lower their heads to eat the eyeball rotates to all it to maintain an upright view of approaching predators.

Hmm - never noticed that - well, if they have scary eyes, it makes me happier about eating lamb - means it won't be scaring people ;). Goats definitely look like they have more intelligence behind their eyes than sheep though.

Thanks Dennis - actually, it's a picture of one of these goats taking pride of place on my freelance website :)

Sheep eyes creepy!?!? GOATS ARE SMARTER?! AHEM, AHEM, COUGH, COUGH. EYEROLL!! I don't think so! Let's see your goat teach herself how to use a dog door, open the fridge, sit nicely on the couch and be good company. Humph!
