Hey Eveyrone:
Quick question, going to be doing my first wedding soon and was wondering what would be a good lens for group shots? I'm thinking the kit 18 should cut it on the wider side but I'm not sure? Maybe a 16-35, maybe a 10-22, what do you all think?
Right now I've got a kit 18-55 or whatever it is, sig 28-70, sig 70-300 and canon 24-70 2.8L (the main workhorse lens)...
should I get a new lens or will I be ok with the kit for wider group shots?
thanks ...

and for all those noticing my many (often elementary) posts, I have finally decided to get the 85 1.8 for portraits since the 24 70 has 50 covered in its range, albeit not a prime 1.8 or 1.4, for now, that's all I can afford.

I will let the pros go more into detail but I think you are fine with the 24 on your L lens for the group shot...any wider and you will start to see distortion, at least that is the way with my 10-22 - it is mainly a creative lens...

i was worried about the distortion as a few other pOTN members have pointed out with the widers, so I guess the 24 will do. DO you think much distortion is to be had with the 18 from the kit? I'm gonna try it out tonight and see for myself..

Trying it yourself is usually best. 18 should be ok, the kit lens is ok when it's stopped down, try and use a lens hood though. If you have space use your 24-70, 24mm is fine. I quite like to use my 70-200 if I have space, which is rare, but happens sometimes.

I'll agree with what everyone here is saying. Use your 24-70L
I use my 28-70L for most group shots. I would kill for the extra 4mm though sometimes :)
The 10-22 you have to be careful with for group shots. I'll use it, but I only use it at 22mm for group shots.
