Here's my first attempt at a close-up shot, using my new IXUS400. (I've only had it 2 weeks and I'm really
impressed with it so far).
I used a mini-tripod, left all camera settings on automatic and lit the subject from the side using a desk lamp.
I've reduced it in size (greatly) and quality (slightly) to make it suitable for the web.

great macro shot
the coin looks beautiful like that,
the gold colour and details so clear.
really nice to see all.
especially things we don't always notice 'too' much normally
:)

I agree... a very nice image of a common object.

MIKE
You are way ahead of me. Great shot. Why not some coin? Just as interesting as a flower !

Thanks for your kind comments everyone. This new digital camera is certainly enabling me to be a bit more adventurous with my photography than I have been in the past with my conventional SLR.

Nice coin and nice shot!
Here is one that I have done if you are interested. It is a Canadian Penny. It is the same size as an american penny.
