Since Sonton2003 brought up the topic, I thought I would share some of my panoramic snapshots of the Air Force Mesuem.... Taken with a S100...
Many of the displays are dificult to photograph in a single frame so this was my solution. The stitching makes things a bit curved that are in reality straight.
I really enjoyed the mesuem, and highly recomend a visit to anyone passing through Dayton, Ohio.
1. They have both outdoor and indoor exibhits. Here is a C-130 with its Big Brother...
2. XB-70 Valkyrie, a Mach 3+ bomber that never made it into production. Urban ledgend has it this is the forerunner of the "Aroura" a Super-Secret aircraft that nobody has seen and only flies out of Nevada at night, Blah, Blah, Blah....

1. F-82 "Twin Mustang" what can I say, this is such an amazing machine! 2 P-51's in one! These saw some combat early on in Korea but were no match for the Mig-jet and were replaced by the F-86....
2. F-86 Saber Jet. Seen here naked....

The star of the mesuem is the B-36 Stratofortress. It has its own hangar and dwarfs all the other planes it is housed with it.

FWIW... The second plane back, in the middle of the B-36 shot, with the red tail, is the kind that George Bush Jr. flew in the National Guard...

Nice pictures. I've been there 3 times. Can't wait to go back. It is amazing how big the XB-70 and B-36 are. I worked on (as a mechanic) the SR-71 that is on display in the mesuem.

If you don't mind here are a couple that I took with a Sony 2.1 mp P & S camera I had a couple of years ago.
This is a shot of the B-36 main wheel assy with me standing beside it. I'm 5'10". Also a shot of the Bomb Bay on the the B-36. Notice the crew tunnel on the right side.

Errrm... that's a B-17G. I don't think that's the original Shoo Shoo Shoo Baby though. History I have says that she was sold to Sweden, converted into an airliner and then scrapped in 1963

My grandfather flew B-17's for SAS out of Stockholm following WWII, both new and conversions. Also JU-56's, DC-3's, and the DC-4.... Proably some others as well.... My Avatar is a picture of him flying the new SAS DC-4 over New York, before he took it over to Europe...

I didn't realise they had an Me-163 there. Nice example. Do these aircraft still have all their internals or are they just shells?

Most are complete. A lot of them were flown to the mesuem. You can't see everything in a day, the place is very big.

Sweet. I'd really like to visit Monino in Russia. It only opened up to foreigners a few years ago and it has a heap of cold war relics and some WW2 stuff too.
http://www.moninoaviation.com/index.html
Couple of problems with that plan though...
-I have no money for travelling that far.
-I don't speak Russian.

Yup, the F-106 Delta Dart
Lucky guess... I built a scale model of one a few years ago but I couldn't remember if it was the F-104, 106 or 108.
Now that I think about it, the F-104 is the starfighter isn't it? What's the 108? Or am I just making up numbers now?

AFAIK, that is the Shoo Shoo Shoo Baby. Restored at Dover AFB and flown to Daytion in '87 or '88. I was there when she left Dover and I have slides of her taxiing out and taking off that I'll have to scan and post.
Unfortunately, I'm stuck at work right now (@ 1500 miles from home) so I'll get around to them when I can.

We just sent a Titan III motor there from ADW last week. Don't know how long it will be until the Titan and the avrocar we sent out will be on display.
