Greetings
I shoot a sport that requires me to wear a paintball mask which keeps my eye about an inch away from the eye piece... I am recently changed to an EC- 1D focusing screen in my1D Mark II because it has a grid pattern that helps me center my camera on a subject.
The grid pattern is not very dark and in low light situations is hard to see. Can the grid pattern be modified to make it more visible or is there a different focus screen with a more distinct pattern?
Thanks

There are many different focus screens. I can't remember where I saw the different ones though.
That's one feature that my Noink d100 (and their others) had was the ability to superimpose a grid which was very helpful.

The focus screen I installed does have a grid pattern but my problem is that it is too light so see. I am looking for a way to make the pattern darker or change to a screen with a darker pattern
Thanks

You could scratch stronger looking lines on it.
No,really! My brother made his own grid focus screen by cutting fine lines on a normal screen with a razor blade.
It wasn't as subtle as a properly made one which is what makes me think of it.You could deepen the lines on your current grid screen or make another one from a cheap normal screen .
This idea may not apeal to you of course but it's an option if you want.

The focus screens are plastic so they should mark easily and they are only $30 at B&H. You can try scribing them with a razor blade or a metal scribe. If you really want to see the lines, you can always just draw them on with a sharpie. They will be hard to miss.

Tell the pansies you photograph to get out of the bunker and into the light!
Paintball isn't any fun if you're in a bunker curled in the fetal position! Get up and MOVE!
(just kidding)

I tried this but they never listen to me, they just shoot me more if I try to tell them to do anything:lol:

Canon really should add this feature!
