I'm so envious of all the wonderful posts I've seen in this forum. Unfortunately, I don't usually get an opportunity to shoot stage performances, but I was fortunate to shoot Doc Sevrenson in concert around 1986 with my Canon A1 film camera and 70-210 f/4 manual focus lens. I shot these with Kodak, (Ektachrome?) slide film and just dug them out of the archives. I hope you like them. Your CC and comments are appreciated very much. :D

Very nice. I like the second shot with the flugelhorn.

Nice work! Especially since you couldn't "cheat" and adjust everything with a RAW converter like I do. ;)

Joel, I have always found photographing with spot lights very challenging--you did a great job with the exposure!! I may have to go back to the files and see what I have. I gave the wife a scanner for Christmas and we are learning how to get her family history photos on the computer--and I can sneak in some oldies but goodies from past events.

Thanks Curtis. If you've ever used slide film, you know the exposure latitude is very narrow. It sure was a lot harder in those days. (No chimping allowed.)
