Despite a Sharpie season:D, i'll post its big cousin - Mr. Cooper's.
These were heavily cropped. C/C welcome.

Very nice CFC. It's interesting that the Cooper, Sharpshinned and Hawk Owl all have the same breast feather patterning.

Very nice. Cooper's = Thicker head/neck area, tail rounded, and they sit lower (You can see more of the Sharpie's legs).

Thanks Stephen, Ted and Paul. :)
Majority of the sharpies that i saw have red eyes. This Cooper's have yellow. Is eye color also one of the differences between the two?

In both species, immatures have yellow eyes while adults have red.

Nice shots Rebel of another wonderful bird. The similarities with the Sharp-shinned are obvious but you can tell from your photos that this is a bigger bird.

Nice spotting Fee, quite good shots for heavy crops. 2nd shot is a little washed but not too bad, first shot is good. I'm jelous, not getting out much to shoot and watch my raptors, still nice to ejoy others though. Great stuff Fee.

Thanks for the kind words Gary, Marc, Keith, Wayne. Cheers! ;)
Wayne, glad to see you back. The weather there is probably too hot to shoot. Hope you crank up the Bigma engine soon and start firing again. :D Stay cool.

I'm dying to get out, hot isn't the word lol, the road around the corner melted the other day when it almost hit 50. Another week of house guests to go, then I have some birders coming from OS that I'll be taking out. I'm hoping the weather will cool down and that will be a good chance to get some shoots off while showing them about.

This guy looks very alert! Must've had something in its sight.Ah, very observant Dan. I was standing next to a pond full of wood ducks when i saw him perched there. I probably got in the way between him and his meal(ducks).
