Oh my.my son has one! A husky chow mix...I have a pic somewhere.He lives next door.Zeus is HUGE! Like huge tall......he is a walking stuffie.seriously....but do not let them deceive you.esp. if there are farm animals in or near you.they are prey driven.also..watch for their eyes! They get reversed eyelashes, it is costly..Zeus had both eyes done.one eye twice.he is fine now.but sunlight is a killer for these dogs. Maybe just him.but a beware and watch just the same.

it started out with him blinking all the time.he has more chow than husky....we thought he maybe had an allergy to the sun.but what was happening was (the first time) his eyelashes were actually incurved, they were scraping his eyes..So.the vet cut a triangle from the corner of the lid, and then stitched it up...he wore this collar and I babysat for about 10 days.and the the other eye started......same thing......he has had this op three times.but now is perfectly fine.

Seems the final outcome was that he actually had extra rolls of skin under his eyelid that was causing the problem.

It's called entropia - the eyelid flips inward. Some sheep get it also ; it's genetic. I think there are a few different remedies but I am not a vet.

Thats thename...yes, there are three techniques that were toild to us.this was the best for this dog..also the most inexpensive. They had to wait until he was a year old though...:confused:

This is one of the best dog pics I have EVER seen... I see 85mm and f/1.2, what lens were you using?

Wow, quite a compliment but credit really goes to the 85L on 5D and good subject. It also helps his eyes were both nearly the same distance to the camera. It's tough to get both eyes in near focus at f1.2, especially for a 1 year old lab. who virtually never stops moving.

Hi, no he caught a fungal infection from the soil, called blastomycosis, it started in his lungs spread to his nervous system and eventually detached his retina. He has scar tissue damage in his lungs. Originally he had lost close to 20 pounds, and could barely stand up. But after 7-8 months of treatment he recovered nicely. When he runs in his favorite park you would never know he was sick.

The fungus is prominent around the lake country here in Manitoba and northwestern Ontario. Common in Wisconsin and Minnesota I believe.

Wow, took me 5 hours to go through this thread! Some amazingly gorgeous dogs!!! I love all the puppy and action shots! I just took some quick pics of my Dakota. We got him at 18 months and he is now 9 years one month (born on Valentines day). Hes a Border Collie with what we think is some Chow in him, as his tongue has purple spots and his tail is really curly. From the day we have gotten him he has gotten into ZERO trouble. Amazingly smart dog, with a wild personality, and very loving, but can be grumpy when sleeping and will growl if you move or wake him up. Otherwise, absolutely perfect dog.

One of my customers has a French Bull Dog, and she was gracious enough to let me take a pic of it as a very young puppy. Fugly has since grown into her ears. It adds a little joy to my mundane job whenever I see Fugly out for a walk and she sees me and wants a little attention.:)

Hate to say it but most cats and dogs, that live together, end up getting along great. Two of each here, gotten over about a six year period, all get along. The cats will actually play with the dogs at times. And they all sleep together.

Cat - 7yr
Dog (Lab) - 3yr
Cat (Bengal Mix)- 2-1/2yr
Dog (Beagle/Jack Russel)- 1yr

Glad it could make somebody's day better. She is the best and quite humorous when she dozes off. The funny thing about pugs are they can fall a sleep instantly and can make quite a loud snoring sound.
