Beautiful Huskys. That first shot is reall good. My folks raised 7 of them until they all died back in the 80's. They didn't have another dog for about 15 years until we got them to take care of one of our Bouviers for a few weeks. Then for a bit longer the second time. And then for almost 2 years. They loved her. Now they have their own dog they spoil. :D We still talk about their Huskys though.

I posted this shot in the lens forum as well. One of the first that I could take after getting my Sigma 120-300 back from service. I have had an ongoing thread there regarding service, so I thought I should post a follow up.

Anyway, this is one of my best friends, Brinkley! He is celebrating his 5th birthday today, so I thought I would share a shot of him with everyone.

He is a great companion. All he asks for is a little attention from me and nothing more (well to go out and tinkle too;) ). He loves the kids and I think he would do anything to protect them if he needed to. Basically he is the definition of UNCONDITIONAL love!

Happy Birthday, Brinkley!

Brinkley is an absolute beauty!

Well, thanks so much. My wife and I often see the dog shows on animal planet channel and our thoughts are that Brinkley looks just as beautiful as they do (he, with minimal grooming).

He just had a little run in the backyard with a laser light. He loves that darn thing. And I love making him chase it:lol: !

BTW - If all of you dog lovers out there don't have one yet, I seriously suggest you get a laser pointer. I know both of my dogs love it. It helps when you don't have the time to walk them tpo, just let them get in a few laps and that's their exercise for the day!

Thanks again,
Travis

Hmmm... aren't those things class 2 lasers, in which case they can do serious damage if they hit the back of a dogs (or humans) eyes.

Please be careful - they are not toys (I do not understand why they are sold, IMHO they are dangerous. I have known of drivers having accidents because someone has "hit" them with the laser whilst driving)

Yep!! Class 2 lasers.

I wasn't encouranging anything but a little run-around time. Point the laser at the ground or floor and let the dogs chase it! I don't think that I ever suggested pointing it in the eyes. As a matter of fact, I didn't suggest anything, because, I thought the members here were ADULT enough to make rational decisions by themselves.

BTW- If you know people that have used them improper purposes, well they need a little education. Don't you think? Kind of like pointing a gun a someone...

Gee whiz...... Is everyone's first intsinct so negative in this forum? My first photo share and I get this......?

Sorry I even brought it up........:(

Here is my first attempt at an image post. I hope it works. This is Gizmo; we got him from the shelter when he was about 3 months old. Someone had kicked or hit him when he was six weeks and broke his jaw in two places, hence the tounge sticking out. After a couple of surgeries it sticks out all the time now. He is a wonderful dog and we are lucky to have him.

How somebody could do that is beyond me. I wish they would have tried it on me instead of Gizmo... I guarantee I would have kicked back, but harder.

I have thousands of Bouvier pictures (actually probably close to 50,000 I've taken over the years) and agree about how great a dog they are. It's probably a good thing for the breed that a lot of people don't know about them. :D

It's always good to see another Bouvier owner posting their pictures.

Wandered around the Lake District this weekend with the camera snapping random things. Couple of dog ones. One out whilst walking and the other sat in front of the fire in a local pub I found... Love the glow of the fire reflecting off him.

Aww -What a cutie, it's a shame what people do to these poor dogs.

Here are my two:
First up: Legend about 4 years ago, she hates cameras. She is 12 now and not as mobile as used to be, cannot even get on the bed anymore.

Second: Red..when he is on a leash, a very obedient dog. When the leash comes off, you might as well be speaking a different language.

Here is our dog Beau-Beau, -pardon the big flash on his head- it was night so we didnt have a chance to go outside and get the good shots yet, plus husband was trying to figure out the camera. (Beau's 3yrs old more than purebred chocolate lab-hehe) we got him from a friend whose dogs accidentally mated (the mom mated with one of her babies-but even though he may have a gene overload, he's one GREAT dog!!! and best pal to my 2yr old and 11mth old.
Then we have one coming dec.15th- Reba - a merliquin (or however you spell it) Great Dane pup (I didnt take that picture-regards of moutaintopdanes).

He's (she?) GORGEOUS. :D Spirit, thanks for the comment. As for the question, better look at the shot again?

More re: "It thinks it's a Lab." This dog is so friendly & playful that it makes me think that there are some hidden Lab genes somewhere. It will play for hours &, when you tell it to stop, it goes to this huge thigh bone from a cow & chews on it for about 2 minutes. I watches you over the top of it, assessing when the time is right (2 minutes) for play time to resume. Then it will carry it over & want to play again. That shot is one of the few times during the day that it wasn't moving.

Hello, fellow finn :D

Is this ^ a full frame or cropped shot? Just wondering how far your dog was while taking the shot... I've been trying to get similar capture but 70-200L4 seems to lose focusing when the subjects gets any nearer.

Oh yeah, I guess it's easier to track focus when the dog isn't all black

(sorry for off-topic *again*)

That shot is almost fullframe. If cropped, it's very minor. Can't remember the distance where the dog was but i was in a hurry trying to get my gear out of way before he ran and hit me in the head. I was lying in the ground. :)

He is a 4 year old (castrated) Lhasa Apso male, who came to us when we lived in the good ol' USA 2002-2003. He's a bit stupid, but such a darling I cry at the thought of sometimes having to live without him.
His previous owners gave him away because of allergies.
Tell me what you think about the PP'ing please, I'm a n00b who needs to learn!
