The first one I don't like, to much shop in the wrong place for me. The rest are great, outstanding, awesome, excellent and just plain sweet. Looking forward to more.

Spectacular!! How long did it take you to amass this colection or are these all common birds?

Thanks, Zip and Oaklandathletic.

Salsataco, all these were taken in 2005. The non-endemic ones are not too hard to find, but they're very smart and wary, so difficult to approach.

The last two (endemics) are very hard to find , much less photograph well.

Outstanding shots Romy as always! There does seem to be too much post processing, on the breast feathers, in the first shot if I'm not mistaken.

I'd love to get to your islands to see some of these birds myself.

Great captures.
However, those colours look very photoshopped and unconvincing to me, especially where bill mandibles are glowing orange red while they should really be shaded (natural light from somewhere above I presume, not below ?)

My experience with kingfishers is they are extremely difficult to approach, excellent pics, beautiful birds. There are 5 species in Costa Rica diffierentiated mainly by size, none nearly as colorful as these.

They are stunning but the last one is wicked .....wow.....incredible detail and color and a little comical too as I imagine him falling forward . The second shot comes in a close second but as I have already said they are all excellent.
