When I review photos of flowers many of them have a black background. I would like to place some of my macro flower pics on black background. Is there a technique to perform this in PS 7? After readin Scott Kelby's book I have not found an answer to this question.

Thanks

The black background occurs because the pictures are usually taken in a macro mode. The light falls off so much that the background appears dark.

There are a couple ways to do this but likely the easiest is to mask the flower over a black background.

To put it short and sweet I selected the flower using the lasso tool with a 1 pixel feather, inverted the image and changed the background black. Deselected and cleaned up the edges.
There is also a program call Procreate Knockout that can help to remove an image and mask it to whatever background you want.
If you would like more in-depth tutorials you can visit ADI and request a tutorial and one will be arranged for you.
