unsharp mask - how much?

Hi all, I'm fairly new to digital and fairly new to doing more than accepting camera default settings. This is probably a silly question but I'm struggling to find answers in the search facility.
My query is, how much unsharp mask should I use? I have elements 4 which I am slowly getting to grips with.
