View Full Version : Images on TV?

35 mm Photography has been my hobby for years, but I have been holding back on the move to digital because of resolution concerns. With the 3 and 4 Megapixel resolutions, I am ready to take the plunge. I have a few questions about using a TV to view the images, and I apologize ahead of time if they have been answered already ...

(1) Canon G1 comes with a video cable. Can I show the "photos" on a TV?

(2) If so, should the resolution be somehow optimized for TV when the photo is taken, or can a maximum resolution image be viewed fully on TV without further resizing on a computer?

(3) Does the remote control the playback as well?

As the readers can gather, I would like to plug the camera on my TV, sit down with a beer and show a "slide show" of my photos in the family room ... heheh.

Thanks (kiitos) PEKKA for a great site!

you can do that.

Just don't spill any beer on the camera.

Hokum,

Answers are

1. You can show the pictures directly from the camera to any size TV as long as it has a video imput jack. If not you can run it through a VCR.

2. The higher the resolution seems to work better on my big screen TV, but I have never shot a picture in a lower resolution.

3. I can use the remote on playback and the camera will play back in slideshow style as well as simalar to viewing on the LCD. There is quite a section in the Users Guide, (pages 120, 122, 92-95) but who has time to read that. RIGHT! :p

As gerry says the beer should not be spilled directly on the camera. I can tell you that at the parties that I have taken my camera and made a lot of candid shots and then popped them on a TV, has caused a lot of beer to be spilled. A couple of events were brought back from the brink of death with a G1 show on TV.

Let me know how it goes.

I like to show my iamges on the TV. When my friends see the pics of themselves on the TV, they often feel it is so pleasant a moment for us to stay together. The only thing at this moment you should do is to take care of your cam!

Often, i check what i have shot through the TV screen when i do not take my notebook in hand. By this way, i can screen the pics to save the space of CF for taking more.

In a word, it is a nice and easy thing to do with your G2.
