Highlights are a bit blown out. Was this taken with an 'L' lens?

If you sharpen it up just a bit,it will be contest quality.Just my opinion,the only one I'm qualified to give.

o.k. I ran it through unsharp mask. Is that any better? Where do you think I should submit it by the way? (preferably someplace with a large cash prize) :-)
