Hi everyone
We had a fantastic day here in southwest of Scotland , the forcast was for a sunny day after 10am , (no complaints from the fellow Scotts i hope) so early up to catch a good sunrise.
Not as good as i was hoping it to be but i`m not complaining , it did the trick.;)
Ofcourse with the clear sky comes the frost and the cold , early in the morning it was around -3 C , but later on it warmed up,,,,around 1C.
After a long day out walking and driving (yes i enjoyed it,it was lovely,i even had the car rooftop open for some fresh air) i finished in my hometown trying to catch what it looked like a superb sunset , i could see the sun from the distance changing to red but i didn`t have enough time to prepair anything , so i took a quick snapshot from the roadside.
1.
Sunrise at Loch (lake) Doon

2.
Sunset at Troon
This one is a Pano crop and its straight out of the cameras jpeg , camera setting was....Landscape.
You can see the other snapper at the right bottom of the picture , (he was there already , well prepaired you see).

Please enjoy them...........

You were darn right there buddy , i kept an eye on the weather forcast last night and it was suppose to be sunny all the way after 10am.
So , got up at 6.30 am and the car was covered in frost , then the head went up the way and the sky was clear , BINGO .
If you don`t catch these kind of weekends in Scotland , you`ve had it , you know that.
Nice shots Buddy !!
Thank you Scottie , always a pleassure to hear from you.:D

Your typical quick snapshot eh? ;)
It was John,i had to run,i could see the sun going down so fast and i had a slow driver in front of me.
By the time i got there,i sun was nearly touching the water,so it was a matter of panic.
By the time i got all the gear out of the boot (i thought i had finished for the day),i nearly droped the Lee CP,i had only 2-3 min to spear, everything happened so fast.
Stunning shots Dimitri. As always, I love your work.
And i love your comments John , and also sharing my work with you.

When there are people here who support my work and reply to my post every time , the least i can do from my side is a small thank you.
I find it completelly rude when i comment on someones post and i don`t get a reply back , at least a dry thanks.
I know that costs the forum more time with bumping , and thats the reason i reply to as many as i can at the same time.
If you notice my replys , they are close together , within a matter of minutes.
Whenever you (or anyone else) comment to my post , i see it as a matter of respect and obligation to answer back , maybe not right away , but as soon as i have the time.

Well said Dimitri... and I appreciate your comments back on the (very few) pics I have posted.
As a matter of technique, do you use a CPol on any of your pics??

Al , if you have a bright sky and its blue, its good to use the CP as it enhances the bly of the sky and also it darkens it down, gaining some light for the forground.
You can achive the same with a ND grad, wich some times i find better for that job.
Some times i use them both, for intanse....
If i`m shooting a lovely blue sky above water,i use them both.
The nd grad to darken the sky and the CP to get rid of the glare/reflection on the water (unless you want that reflection as part of an effect).
Another time i use the CP is in spring where you have all these lovely and vibrant natural colours , they look great when enhanced by the CP.
To cut a long story short , its on my Lee filter holder all the time because it also gives me a slower shutter speed (subject of my next post) to work with , with is something i really love (working with slow s/s i mean:lol:).
Is that any help?

Thanks..
I used to use a CPol pretty much all the time on my old EOS 100 but have not yet with my DReb. I love the Pol effect and how it improves saturation without overdoing it. Just bought a 82mm CPol today (off a fellow POTN!) for use with my new lenses this year (hopefully including a trip to Egypt in April!). Was just curious as your images have that CPol saturated look (I like it) that rmeinds me of Velvia/Cpol in combination.

What a thought.... that would work on bosses and teachers but my family??? Honestly though, i've wanted to go backpacking in europe since I was in highschool.... and as soon as I finish my degree's there's going to be even less time to consider it. I really should steal a couple of months, save up some money and do it. Scotland would be first on the list though... I imagine I'd have to spend several days there, your weather is kind of comparable to here and you just can't guarantee what the day is gonna bring... i'm rambling, sorry.
Sari.

Dimitri, there is nothing more I can say about the style and quality of your work.
I also liked very much your description of the use of filters. I noticed that when I moved from film to digital I almost completely gave up using filters, and have trusted on postprosessing only. What a mistake! Now I have to back to my 'old gear warehouse' and take them back to active use.

I was the same in the start with digital,my atetude was...ah,i`ll get it in photoshop.
What a big mistake, use the filters, get the shot at its best, and then if it needs some extra work you can finnish it in PS.
There is no way to add a digital filter and have exactly the same effect with the normal one,NO WAY.
At least a nd grad and a CP are a must.
Better get your sky at home with you by using filter , than try to repair it in PS.
