An attempt at making an interesting seagul photograph. I feel I have succeeded somewhat? I wanted to to convey a sense of direction with the bird. Be interested to hear what you think, as always.

Regards
Martin.

Looks like a flagpole ornament! -:)

Actually, I do like the motion and the fact that he is on the left 1/3 of the shot which leaves the viewer with anticipating the gul's motion. The gul does fade into the background however. I would think this could have been fixed by maybe adding a little color to the sky? Or maybe creating a layer and doing a slight gaussian blur to the background? Or maybe just "soft focusing" the background a bit. There's too much gray in it for me. Otherwise, I think it is really great how you captured him so clearly when he was ready to take off!

Martin, this has the makings of an excellent photo. The background (clouds) need something done to them, but what? More contrast, maybe? Something to make the Seagull more prominent would be nice.
Fantastic composition !

I just don't seem to connect to this one. My first attempt was to liken it to a weathervane. But that is not fair. It may be the seagull is not near the sea, and does not bring any mood with it.

Sorry. It is a nice photo, but as Henk would say, no cigar.

HOWIE -- the brutal one.
