I've had my digital camera a few weeks now and was wondering if there was any way of reducing the size of more than one photo at once on the PC ?

I try and take photos in as large a size as possible (usually 2272x1704 or 1600x1200) but these are way too big for general emailing and website use.

I currently use Adobe Photoshop Elements to edit the shots from my IXUS400, but can't find a way of doing this other than one at a time - any ideas ?

Reducing them down to 640x480 one at a time gets quite tedious after a while !

Thanks,
Mike.

If you have XP:

http://download.microsoft.com/download/whistler/Install/2/WXP/EN-US/ImageResizerPowertoySetup.exe

It uses a fixed JPEG compression (I think about 5) so not useful for all purposes, but fine for most email/web.

If you have MS Frontpage then its picture gallery component can resize all pictures for you by editing one picture and selecting as the default size for all in the gallery. Once you have saved to your chosen location you can move the images and discard the photo gallery completely if you wish.

In Photoshop Elements, once you have all of the images open that you want to resize (in case you didn't know, hold Ctrl while clicking selections to open more than one at a time), click File>Automate>Batch... A window will open, and you can choose to convert the open files to any of the supported formats. Check the "Convert Image Size" box, then specify the width, height, and resolution. Specify if/how you want the images renamed, set the destination, then click OK.

Voila.

Hope that helped you out.
