Is rubber hood needed, especailly for outdoor? How does it affect the quality of photography?

Hi Fuze,
if you take a picture against the sun, normally you see glare (refractions of sunlight caused by the optical elements in your lens).
This happens especially if you use additional tele of wide-angle converters.
The rubber hood shields your lens against sunrays coming from the side. This normally happens if you take a photo at an angle of 45 degrees to the direct sun (the sun is not on your photo, but just ouside). However, the glare is visible in the photo.
If you're aware of it, you can also use your hand to shield your lens against the sunrays. However, you don't always see the refraction on the tiny LCD display.
Regards,
Andy
